11 Actors and Actresses Who Did a Brilliant Job Portraying Cartoon Characters on Film

Interpreting cartoon characters is not an easy task, especially when it comes to characters that millions of people fell in love with in childhood. Fortunately, there are talented actors and actresses who seem made for fairy tales. Angelina Jolie as Maleficent, Helena Bonham Carter as Fairy Godmother and Emma Watson as Belle are some examples of celebrities who have done a great job in this regard.

O awesome.club prepared a list of 11 actors and actresses who played great cartoon characters and separated some of their testimonies about these important roles.

Emma made the following statement regarding her portrayal of Belle: “I think I feel very lucky. Beauty was the heroine of my childhood; the original animation came out two days after I was born. Already in my early teens, everything revolved around idolizing Hermione. In other words, having had the chance to play both of them is a unique experience for any actress.”

In an interview, the actress confessed that it took a long time to perfect the voice of the character, but her children helped her in this process: “The accent and everything about her was discovered while I was bathing my children. I think I tried 17 versions with them that said, ‘What are you doing? Mom, stop talking so weird’. One day I did a really crazy voice and they burst out laughing. I did this all night, until finally I found the character inside of me.”

Emma Stone as Cruella in Cruella

Actress Emma Stone tried to master her character’s evil laugh in the shower: “I practiced a lot in the shower, because, actually, it’s kind of boring to practice laughing in front of people. (…) We are vulnerable when we laugh in front of others. Also, we don’t want someone to say to us, ‘Is that your Cruella laugh?’ In other words, everything is a long process!”

In an interview, Mia was asked if she thought she looked like Alice and she replied: “I hope so. I don’t know. (…) I feel that the things she goes through are similar to what I felt at some point in my life and I think that many people, especially young women, feel it too”.

When asked why his character sometimes speaks with a Scottish accent, the actor replied: “In the beginning, Tim Burton and I were talking about how the character is made up of traits from different people, often the more extreme side of them. With the Scottish accent, I tried to make it darker and more dangerous. Oh, and I also like to wear skirts (laughs)!”

Helena confessed that, when Tim Burton suggested that she play the role, she was quite surprised: “It was like a marriage proposal. (…) It was a total surprise! I know a lot of people think this is fake, but no, it’s the purest truth. Not everyone understands, but whenever he comes out with a new movie, I don’t think he’ll want to work with me again.”

Helena Bonham Carter as Fairy Godmother in Cinderella

When asked if she and the Fairy Godmother had anything in common, the actress replied: “Unfortunately, I can’t do magic and turn pumpkins into vehicles. But in terms of other aspects, like the fact that she’s absent-minded, sure. That is, she is a magical woman and, from time to time, she is a little absent, I think I am a little like that too ”.

Lily fell in love with the blue dress when she was on the film set: “I felt completely transformed. And I think that’s what fairy tales are about: transformation. When I put on that dress, I felt like I could be a princess.”

Naomi Scott as Jasmine in Aladdin

The actress revealed that she loved the character Jasmine when she was little: “She was my favorite Disney princess, mainly because she made me feel empowered. A woman who fights for the power of choice when it comes to getting married. In our film, she was portrayed as a very active woman.”

In your opinion, which of these actors and actresses was the most convincing when playing these cartoon characters? Do you think someone even more important was left out of this list? Tell in the comments.
