Corns are excess thick skin, the result of constant friction, and can be a real nuisance. They usually appear on the hands and feet, and although they are usually harmless, they can become infected if not treated properly.
Doctors usually treat corns with special blades, acids, or pumice, but there are also home remedies that you can use with simple substances that you probably already have at home.
At the awesome.club We want to introduce you to some home remedies that people have used over the years to treat their corns and soften their skin.
But we always recommend that you look for a specialist before using the products, or do a skin test to make sure you don’t have an allergy.
1. Crush some aspirin
A simple aspirin can help remove calluses from your feet. Crush about 5 or 6 tablets and mix the powder with lemon juice and water. Make a paste to put on the callus. Wrap the area with a warm towel and cover it with a plastic bag or plastic wrap. After about 10 minutes, file the callus with a pumice stone. If you are diabetic or allergic to aspirin, do not use this method.
2. Sodium bicarbonate paste
Adding baking soda to a foot bath can help cure corns, but there’s a less complicated way to do this. Mix the product with water to make a paste and apply it to the corns regularly until the skin is smooth.
3. Soak your feet in some tea
Warm tea is always comforting, but it can also be good for your skin. So make a foot bath with chamomile tea or tea tree oil in water. This will help to dry the skin. If the product leaves stains, remove them with soap and water.
4. Rub cornstarch on your feet
Corns can be easily avoided by rubbing your feet with cornstarch. This will keep them dry, which will prevent irritation and other possible infections. This method can also relieve the pain and roughness of the skin on your feet.
5. Make a compress with vinegar
Dip a cotton ball in vinegar and stick it on your corn. Leave it on the area overnight and then file the callus with a pumice stone. Make sure the liquid is on the affected area and not on the surrounding skin.
6. Rub the callus with pineapple slices
Pineapple peels have enzymes that can help soften and eliminate calluses. Place a piece of the fruit on the affected area and wrap it with a cloth to keep it in place. Do this every night for a week. Applying pineapple juice will make this method even more effective.
7. Stick crusty bread on the affected area
Stale bread may not be good to eat, but it helps to soften the skin. Soak half a slice of bread in vinegar and stick it on the callus before going to bed. Wrap your foot in cling film and put on a cotton sock. You should notice an improvement within a few hours.
8. Use aloe vera at night
You can use an aloe vera leaf (aloe vera) or pure aloe vera gel to soften the callus. Apply the fleshy part of the plant without bark or the pure gel to the callus, then cover with a bandage. The area will soften and it will be easy to sand.
9. Vitamins A and E
Vitamins can help treat the skin, even when used topically. Take a needle and break a vitamin A or E capsule. Collect the oil and apply it to the callus. Do this before bed, until the area is completely healed.
10. Wear socks (or gloves) with special creams or Vaseline
Bonus: Shea Butter Can Also Help Cracked Skin
If your feet are rough or cracked, a tip is to rub them with shea butter. This will not only add moisture and heal the damaged area, but it will also eliminate itchiness and pain.
