10 Movie Couples Who Are Excellent Examples of Loveless Relationships

Almost every movie or series has a love story with which filmmakers captivate the audience. But sometimes what we see are really unhealthy relationships masquerading as romance. Some viewers, bewitched by the film, do not even notice these details and may try to build their love life according to the patterns shown in cinematographic works.

Today the incredible.club will show film couples that have captivated many viewers. However, few people realize that the relationship of these characters is far from perfect.

1. A beautiful woman —Edward and Vivian

Social and cultural taboos in real life would certainly have interfered, and Edward would not have been involved in a formal relationship with a woman like Vivian, because the stakes were high. The very basis of the relationship also raises many questions. By presenting Vivian with clothes, jewelry and other expensive things, Edward was essentially trying to buy the young woman’s love, while viewers perceived this gesture as a sign of love.

The film’s original ending, by the way, was not a happy ending. Vivian’s friend Kit passes away and Edward throws Vivian out of his car with all the money he had given her. But since viewers like fairy tales, which do not exist in the real world, the script was rewritten, and Vivian practically became Cinderella.

two. X-Men Franchise — Bobby and Rogue

Rogue is an incredibly tragic character. Due to her inability to touch someone without ending up hurting them, it is very difficult for her to get into a relationship at first.

3. Franchise Hunger Games — Peeta and Katniss

The relationship between these characters is very complicated and doesn’t feel like a happy story. In the first part of the franchise, Peeta openly declares that he is in love with Katniss. But this is a manipulative move. Afterwards, he confesses that it was an attempt to praise her. And that’s another form of manipulation: turning a circumstance in which Peeta was guilty into a situation in which he is innocent.

Peeta’s problem is his complicated personality. While Katniss is an open book to everyone but herself, Peeta is a simple, kind guy who doesn’t miss a chance to do something for his own benefit. He literally ties Katniss up in invisible chains and makes her play by her own rules. For example, when he publicly declares that Katniss is pregnant and she has to pretend that she is.

Furthermore, the absence of any chemistry between the two characters, both in the book and in the film, makes the couple far from perfect.

4. passengers — Jim and Aurora

The relationship between these characters is nothing more than cruelty disguised as romance. The two are locked in a spaceship and must find a way to survive without going crazy with loneliness.

Aurora’s feelings for Jim are a typical example of Stockholm syndrome. And her behavior in the film is inhuman and is justified by the despair that the protagonist experiences. The film manipulates the audience, making them feel empathy for the character, despite having condemned an innocent young woman to death in outer space.

5. The good side of life — Tiffany and Pat

6. Fifty Shades of grey and subsequent films — Anastasia and Christian

This trilogy is the romanticization of abusive relationships, both physical and emotional. Christian is a manipulative and selfish man who does his best to control his girlfriend’s life. The couple clearly lacks a modicum of trust. And every time Anastasia tries to find out about her boyfriend’s past, he is evasive and manages to leave her with no answer.

In both the movies and the book, the idea is that Christian changes under Anastasia’s influence. This is very similar to the broken bird syndrome: when a person is attracted to another person who has numerous problems, but feels capable of solving them. Entering a relationship with the desire to change someone is clearly not a very wise decision.

7. A place called Notting Hill —Anna and William

You remember the plot of that movie, where a famous woman meets a humble bookstore owner and starts a relationship with him, even though she already has a partner. Once the press discovers the romance, Anna accuses William of the situation and dumps him. A few months later, the unhappy lover begs her forgiveness, as if he is the only one to blame for everything that happened.

Furthermore, the relationship of these characters is built on a lie: Anna hides from William that she had a partner, and then omits from everyone that she was with William. Definitely not the best foundation on which to build a love affair.

8. Forrest Gump: The Storyteller — Forrest and Jenny

Throughout the film, the directors emphasize that Jenny is the protagonist’s only true love, although the girl always makes it clear that she is uncomfortable with Forrest’s signs of affection. Also, Jenny hurts him and has done so more than once. The whole movie is nothing more than a representation of unrequited love.

The spectators until classify Jenny as the most toxic character in film history. She constantly avoided the one man who tried to take care of her and only returned to Forrest when he got rich.

9. The big Gatsby — Daisy and Jay

The focus of the entire film is Gatsby’s obsessive love for Daisy and his overwhelming desire to have her back in his life. The methods used by him are quite dubious: Jay commits crimes to earn more money. Also, Gatsby stubbornly ignores the fact that Daisy is already married and tries to ruin her life. The young woman loves both her husband and her lover. We could go on endlessly romanticizing this couple, but their relationship definitely cannot be called healthy.

10. game of Thrones — Jaime and Cersei

Forget the fact that these two are siblings, which in itself should be a hindrance to a relationship. Theoretically, viewers should hate this couple, but many treat them with sympathy and empathy.

Jaime is the couple’s weakest link. When Myrcella dies, Cersei blames Jaime for her death, but when Tommen passes away, Jaime doesn’t blame Cersei for it, though he could. Moreover, she cannot be called faithful: as soon as her beloved is absent, another man takes her place.

In your opinion, what other romanticized couple in movies somehow promotes toxic relationships?
