10 Journalists who reinvented themselves after leaving Rede Globo

Whether in the morning, afternoon, evening or even early hours of the morning, there are journalists bringing information to viewers. It may be that you only leave the house after knowing the local news, how the traffic is in your region, whether it will rain or not. We’ve been following the work of some of these professionals for so long that it seems like they’re part of our family, right? And then, when they leave their post to follow new paths, it even gives that heart ache to know that we won’t see them in that newspaper.

O awesome.club recalled some professionals who made their mark on TV Globo’s journalism and, after leaving the channel, proved that leaving one’s comfort zone can yield many benefits. Come check!

1. Diana Garbin

The journalist and writer began her career working at the Globo affiliate in Rio Grande do Sul, RBS TV. In 2008, she started working as a reporter for Rede Globo in São Paulo, where she stayed for eight years, until she resigned in 2016 to dedicate herself to the YouTube channel “EuVejo”. In addition, she has released two books and has also been working with lectures and interviews on well-being, motherhood, self-care and mental health.

3. Evaristo Costa

Remembered for his good humor, the charismatic journalist was the anchor of Jornal Hoje between 2004 and 2017, alongside Sandra Annenberg. However, before that, Evaristo Costa worked at Globo’s affiliate, TV Vanguarda São José dos Campos. In 1999, he was transferred to TV Globo in São Paulo, where he was a reporter for Mais Você, by Ana Maria Braga. Currently, he has established himself as an influencer and has done several advertising campaigns, in addition, he also lent his voice to dub the character Chad from the movie The Incredibles 2.

4. Izabella Camargo

The journalist marked her passage through Rede Globo in 2012, when she presented the weather forecast on several news programs. Izabella Camargo worked at the station until 2019, after being diagnosed with burnout syndrome and being dismissed without just cause. After leaving the global small screen, she created a YouTube channel to help people find their way back to work-life balance, in addition to writing the book “Give it a break” and giving lectures.

5. Dony De Nuccio

The career of the journalist and presenter at Rede Globo began in 2011, but Dony De Nuccio gained notoriety after replacing Evaristo Costa at Jornal Hoje, in 2017. Three years later, he left the newspaper’s bench for entertainment, and today he presents the program Tô Chegando! At Discovery Home & Health’s House of Celebrities. In addition, he won the Bake Off Brasil: Celebrities program in 2021 and gives investment tips on his Instagram.

7. Anne Lottermann

Anne Lotterman joined Rede Globo’s journalism in 2010, initially working at GloboNews and later at Bom Dia Rio and RJTV. Later, she started to present the weather forecast in Jornal Nacional. In 2022, she also switched from journalism to entertainment, leaving Globo to work at Faustão na Band.

8. Jose Hamilton Ribeiro

With six decades as a journalist, José Hamilton Ribeiro made history by presenting Globo Rural, with his unmistakable voice. After 46 years on the air, the award-winning reporter left the program to dedicate himself to the production of sugarcane, eucalyptus, corn and milk on his farm.

9. Carlos Tramontina

The journalist joined TV Globo as an intern in 1978. From a beginner reporter, he was promoted to presenter and editor-in-chief of Bom Dia São Paulo, Globo Notícia and Antena Paulista. For 24 years, Carlos Tramontina was the anchor of SPTV 2nd Edition. In 2022, he shared on his Instagram his departure from the station, after 43 years of journalistic activities, to be closer to his family.

10. Chico Pinheiro

With his good humor and memorable catchphrases, Chico Pinheiro has been on the bench at Bom Dia Brasil since 2011. In fact, the journalist entered journalism at TV Globo in 1977, as head of reporting, later passing through several journalistic programs. After 32 years, the journalist and presenter left the station for a sabbatical.
