10 Details about the soap opera “A Favorita” that many people didn’t realize until today

One of the soap operas that marked the end of the 2000s was certainly A Favorita, originally shown in 2008. The story, filled with suspense, love, betrayal and revenge, was quite successful, reaching 47.5 points on Ibope in its last week. . The feuilleton can also be remembered for the construction of the characters, marked by duality, since most of them had virtues and defects in similar measures.

we, from awesome.club, we are fans of a good story, and that’s why we decided to remember some curiosities of this soap opera that is worth watching again at any opportunity. Check out!

1. The actor changes the character’s name

In one scene, Halley and Lara arrive home and start talking. They are looking for a character named Diva (which is actually Donatela in disguise) but Halley, at one point, confuses the names and calls Diva Donatela. As if the exchange were not enough, there is still a hole in the script since, at this point in the plot, he thought Donatela was dead.

2. Improvised scene that worked very well

The work of actresses and actors can also be arduous and unglamorous. One of the notable examples comes from A Favorita, in a scene starring Claudia Raia and Ary Fontoura. Claudia plays Donatela and Ary gives life to Silveirinha.

In the story, when Donatela and Flora were a country duo, Silveirinha was their manager, but after the breakup of the country people, he becomes Donatela’s butler. And he doesn’t like his mistress at all, as he makes a point of making it very clear in an argument. A detail is that the recorded scene was part of the actors’ rehearsal, in the improvisation. It was so good that it made it into the soap opera!

3. Claudia Raia “became” right handed

That the preparation of actors to play a leading role in prime time is exhausting, you can already imagine, but Claudia Raia took the composition of her character in A Favorita to another level! The actress, who is left-handed, simply recorded the entire soap opera making Donatela, her character, be right-handed. Imagine the work of body awareness that this small big change must have caused!

4. It looks like a movie plot

Inspiration for a story’s plot can come from many places, and not infrequently from movies and books. The Favorite premiered in 2008, but in 2002 the American film White Oleander told a very similar story in its central theme.

In it, a girl named Astrid is raised by another woman as a result of her mother’s arrest, who committed a crime of passion. In the film, the characters Ingrid and Claire start to dispute the love of Astrid, as well as Flora and Donatela dispute the love of Lara, to a certain point in the novel.

5. Opening with spoilers

The opening was a hit, with illustrations that looked like movie posters from the 1940s and 1950s, flat, with cut-out figures and music by the Uruguayan-Argentine band Bajofondo. But there were more than hidden aesthetic references in the telenovela’s presentation. In fact, the opening was suggested by the author of the novel, João Emanuel Carneiro, and was full of spoilers, since the entire main plot was told.

6. Relay of protagonists

The opening presented another detail that few viewers noticed the first time the telenovela was aired. As the characters of Patrícia Pillar and Claudia Raia were the big stars of the story, two versions of the opening were made: one in which Claudia’s name appeared first and Patrícia’s later, and the other, on the contrary, with the name of Patrícia appearing first and Claudia’s second. This relay remained until the end of the soap opera — and in case you haven’t noticed, it’s part of this text too!

7. The author innovated in the format

If you look at it, you will notice that, in general, the character of the characters that make up movies and soap operas is shown right away, and for that, some stereotypes can be used, for example: “the messy and troubled boy who changes his personality when he gets fall in love”; or “the somewhat disheveled and embarrassed girl who undergoes a visual transformation and becomes confident”, among others. These features can be problematic, but they work.

In the case of A Favorita, the author innovated, preferred to make suspense and did not reveal who was the villain and who was the girl in the story at the beginning of the plot. The characters were ambivalent, that is, they had good and bad attitudes and the mystery was only revealed to the public in chapter 56. In the plot, the real villain is only unmasked from chapter 60 onwards.

8. Inspired the humorous Casseta & Planeta Urgente

As always happened with soap operas shown at 9 pm, the first time it was aired, A Favorita inspired a parody made by the now defunct comedy program Casseta & Planeta Urgente, called A Periquita. As usual, the actors of Casseta & Planeta played several characters from the soap opera, making a humorous caricature of the story.

9. Even Faustão made a cameo in the soap opera

10. Five actors played 15 characters

Got confused? So it is! As the plot is filled with mystery, suspense and investigations, some characters assume several identities throughout the novel. Claudia Raia, for example, plays Donatela (the Spark) and also impersonates Diva, Rosana and Sílvia Lontra. In turn, Patrícia Pillar plays Flora (a Spoleta) and also impersonates Sandra Maia.

The main character of Cauã Reymond is Halley, but he also uses disguises: Bruninho Aguiar and Luiz. Giulia Gam plays Diva Palhares, Miranda and Rosana. Finally, Deborah Secco gives life to Maria do Céu, who is also known as Pâmela and Mariazinha.

Did you watch the soap opera the first time it aired? Did it take a long time to figure out who the big villain was or did you realize right away who had committed all the atrocities of the plot? Leave your answer in the comments.
