10 Characters Loved by the Audience, But Aren’t So Nice

Few people have not been captivated by the brave Mufasa of The Lion King or they didn’t surrender to the passionate Severus Snape of the Harry Potter saga. They and many other characters, at first glance, seem brave, honest, and perfect. However, if you look closely, some very unpleasant personality traits can be noticed.

O awesome.club decided to bring together some characters beloved by the public who, in reality, are not so nice. Check out!

1. Woody’s Toy Story

As soon as little Andy gets Buzz Lightyear and the doll starts interacting with the other toys, cowboy Woody instantly goes crazy. Driven by jealousy and the desire to be the only leader of the toys, he mocks Buzz and pushes him into the space between the table and the wall so that the owner cannot find him.

At the end of the animation, Woody changes his attitude, but because of this, it’s hard to consider him a completely good character.

2. Elsa and Anna’s parents Frozen a freezing adventure

Do you remember the beginning of the movie? Little Elsa uses her magic to create snowmen and play with her younger sister Anna, but accidentally ends up hurting the little one. Any child could make this mistake (children fight, push, drop objects, etc.), but the girls’ parents blamed Elsa for everything. They isolate the daughter from the world and demand that she learn to control her abilities. A loving father and mother would hardly give up one daughter to protect the other from harm.

3. Aladdin, protagonist of the animation of the same name

That Aladdin is a thief everyone knows, however, he only steals from bad people and always shares what he steals with the poor. In other words, he only needs enough money to buy food and there is no greed for self-enrichment.

However, upon finding the magic lamp, the hero is willing to do anything for the love of the princess, even lying. Aladdin pretends to be rich so that Jasmine will agree to marry him. So, he is far from an “ideal” groom.

4. Mufasa The Lion King

Mufasa is a narcissistic monarch who banishes anyone who opposes his rule, even family members, from the Pride Lands. After he confronts Scar about why he didn’t show up to Simba’s coming out event, the king even jokes about his brother’s death. Let us remember the dialogue between the king and Zazu:

“What am I going to do with him?”

“You can make a nice rug out of it.”

The king gives a good-natured laugh and Zazu says the following:

“Imagine, every time it gets dirty you can throw it out and beat it.

And Mufasa laughs again. This behavior is not worthy of a character with the title of hero, do you agree?

5. Peter Pan, protagonist of the animation of the same name

During the flight to Neverland with Wendy and her brothers, Peter Pan flew faster than everyone else, overtook the children and then came back asking who they were. Maybe you forgot he was taking them with him, or maybe you just didn’t want to remember it. When one of the boys starts to fall, Peter starts laughing and only decides to save him after Wendy convinces him to do so.

On the island, the character behaved like a true tyrant:

Created a daily routine and got irritated when it was broken; He highlighted basic human needs and didn’t let children sleep or eat whenever they wanted; Sometimes he even gave them fake food.

Furthermore, we cannot forget Captain Hook, who lost his hand in a fight against Peter Pan. The “good boy” fed a crocodile from the pirate’s hand, causing the beast to pursue Captain Hook forever and ever.

6. Glinda, the Good Witch of the South of The Wizard of Oz

When we were kids, we all believed that the real villain in the story was The Wicked Witch of the West. However, Glinda, the Good Witch of the South is responsible for most of the main character Dorothy’s problems.

When Dorothy’s house was destroyed by the Wicked Witch of the West, it was Glinda who gave the girl the shoes that once belonged to the witch. This is almost the same thing as drawing a huge target on Dorothy’s back.

Glinda wanted to take down the Wicked Witch, but she didn’t do it alone, she adopted the strategy of using someone else to do what she wanted.

7. Merida from brave

At least halfway through the film, Merida behaves like a spoiled girl who doesn’t think about the consequences of her actions. The girl tries to hurt her mother in every possible way: she spoils the tapestry, screams that she does not want to live with her, and so on.

Of course, the girl had every right to rebel against her forced marriage, but giving her mother a bewitched cake? And the mother’s transformation into a bear is the least of it, imagine what would happen if there was poison in the cake.

Merida is not a strong and independent girl, but a rude and selfish girl who changes a little by the end of the film. Therefore, it is perhaps risky to consider her a heroine or an example for teenagers to follow.

8. Shrek, protagonist of the animation of the same name

Shrek is a boorish but charming character who hates a lot of things. He will save the princess not because he feels a call from his heart or for any other noble motives, but because of the need to settle the question of his land—to save the princess in order to become the owner of the swamp.

Also remembering that ogres eat humans. For example, Shrek’s favorite cocktail is not decorated with a cherry, but with a human eye.

9. Beautiful from Beauty and the Beast

Belle is a beautiful character well known for her snobbery. Do you remember how rude she is to the baker and the rest of town, always thinking she’s better than they are? Bela calls her village boring and dreams of leaving her “provincial” life. And all it takes is getting into trouble (which, in fact, is the adventure she’s always dreamed of), so that Bela doesn’t stop complaining about life.

10. Severus Snape from the Harry Potter Saga

JK Rowling forced us to forgive Snape for all the harm he did to Harry, but not all readers were able to absolve him. Let’s say he really loved Lily, why then torment his beloved’s son? After all, when you love, the desire is for the person to be happy, even if that means not with you. Also, surely Lily would be happy to hear that Harry was okay. The conclusion is reached that Snape was not absolutely in love with Lily Potter – he was simply obsessed with her.
