10 Before and after actors who have established themselves as revelations of Brazilian television drama

Many actors and actresses get the highlight they so much wanted in their first roles, sometimes turning a simple supporting role into a highlight plot, just because of their good performance. This is not only the gateway to other works in teledramaturgy, but also helps in winning or nominating for awards, formalizing good performance in production. Year after year, Rede Globo awards several trophies in the Best of the Year, among them, the Best Actor and Actress Revelation, giving due prominence to these people who did the job justice.

With that, we awesome.club, we gathered 10 revelations that competed for these awards for their excellent performance in their work and we show you how they are today. Check out!

1. Lavinia Vlasak (O Rei do Gado, 1996)

Lavínia Vlasak began her career as an actress in O Rei do Gado and soon in her first work she already won awards, among them, Best of the Year, as Best New Actress. Since then, the young woman has not let go of acting, year after year she scored in soap operas, however, she had to change broadcasters, going from Globo to Record, and getting her first protagonist, in Prova de Amor. The telenovela is one of the biggest successes of the station, and obtained a large audience.

2. Ana Paulo Arósio (Hilda Furacão, 1998)

Ana Paula Arósio conquered the spotlight early on in commercial campaigns, but her acting career came a few years later, when the young woman had already turned 18, starring in the movie Forever. After that, she made a few appearances as an actress on SBT, but drew attention even with the play Fedra, being invited to star in the miniseries Hilda Furacão, which was the turning point in her career, gaining more space in acting and also the award for Best of the Year as Breakthrough Actress.

3. Leonardo Miggiorin (Anita’s Presence, 2001)

Leonardo Miggiorin began his career in 1999, in Flora Encantada, but it was in 2001 that he gained prominence in Presença de Anita. With the character Zezinho, he won the award for Best New Actor, at Globo’s Melhores do Ano: “It was the first time that I did television drama in prime time and that gave me a very big projection, from one hour to the next I became recognized on the street. After that, the boy continued his acting career, always alternating between roles on Globo and Record, in addition to cinema.

4. Priscila Fantin (Hope, 2002)

At age 16, Priscila Fantin won her first role in soap operas. It was in Malhação that the actress made her debut as the protagonist Tati, who stayed in the plot for two seasons. After the success, the young woman continued her career and it didn’t take long to get another highlight, this time in prime time, as the Italian Maria, in Esperança; for this role she competed for six awards, taking four home. Fantin remained firm and strong in his career for many years, but decided to reduce his frequency in the spotlight on behalf of his family: “When I do a job, I dedicate myself a lot, that means giving up family moments and some aspects of personal moments and I don’t intend to give up today the way I live, however, if it’s really worth it…”

5. Dan Stulbach (Women in Love, 2003)

Dan Stulbach started out doing small parts in productions, but it didn’t take long to stand out as Marcos, in Mulheres Apaixonadas. The character was so hated by the public that years later it still generates comments. On the other hand, his performance was highly acclaimed, which is why the actor competed for 13 awards and took them all home, including Best New Actor at the Globo Awards for Best of the Year. After his big role, he never gave up acting, working in films and soap operas, in addition to hosting a radio show since 2006.

6. Guilherme Berenguer (Malhação, 2004)

Guilherme Berenguer made his debut on television in Malhação, and because of the role he won the award for Best New Actor in Globo’s Melhores do Ano. He was then invited to work as a presenter at Globo Ecologia and stayed there for three years. After leaving, he played other roles, but since 2014 he has not returned to the small screen. Even with the departure, the actor is still remembered by the teen audience at the time: “There was a fan who told me he liked Vagabanda and asked if he could take a picture with me. It’s amazing how he is still very much alive”. The actor no longer lives in Brazil, but continues to work with productions.

7. Carolina Oliveira (Today is Mary’s Day, 2005)

Carolina Oliveira made her debut on television as a child, starring in the series Hoje é Dia de Maria, and at just 11 years old, she has already competed for seven awards, including Best New Actress at Melhores do Ano. Despite not winning that trophy, she took home three others: “I didn’t know anything, I learned everything there. Everything was passed on to me very lightly. For me it was a serious joke.” She grew up in front of viewers, but paused her career for a short period to better understand what she wanted from life, between films and soap operas, the young woman continues to act.

8. Gustavo Leão (Tropical Paradise, 2007)

Gustavo Leão made his debut in Floribella, but the highlight was the following soap opera, Paraíso Tropical, in which the character Mateus lived. It was with this role that he won the award for Best New Actor in the Best of the Year. Then he engaged in other plots, in addition to spending a period presenting the extinct TV Globinho. But those who believe that the boy is still in the acting business are wrong. Gustavo moved to Orlando, Florida, and makes a living doing something completely different, he graduated in gastronomy and continues his life as a chef.

9. Mariana Rios (Malhação, 2009)

Mariana Rios made her debut in Malhação, as the character Yasmin. In the plot, she was only a supporting character, being one of the villain’s best friends. However, it didn’t take long for her to conquer the soap opera audience, gaining more space every day and also an award as Breakthrough Actress: “She is a great joy for me, she was one of the greatest happiness of my life and my great achievement. Her success motivated me a lot.” Mariana’s goal has always been to be a complete artist and so she does, in addition to acting, the young woman also sings, having released a few songs during her career.

10. Titina Medeiros (Cheias de Charme, 2012)

Titina Medeiros already had a long career in the theater when she got a prominent role on television, in the soap opera Cheias de Charme, as Maria do Perpétuo, the comic and sarcastic role soon won over the public and guaranteed the actress the award for Revelation Actress in the Best of the Year of the Globe. With the positive highlight, the actress continued in teledramaturgy, doing other soap operas: “I never imagined myself on TV. It was my first job and I was with such a powerful character and in such a brilliant soap opera. It was magnificent. Until then, I thought I would always work as an actress in the theater and doing television gave me more possibilities for work”.
