10 Artists who managed to deceive the public and lived much younger characters

We are so used to following movies and series that, many times, we don’t even notice that a certain actor is not the same age as the character. Our subconscious only accepts the information as true, and so we continue watching the productions. Therefore, it is normal to be scared to discover that that teenager on the small screen, in fact, has already left that stage of life a long time ago.

Darren Barnet became best known for giving life to a teenager in the series Never Have I Ever. In the production, the boy plays a 17-year-old character, at the height of his adolescence and popularity, however, when the actor started recording, he was already 29 years old, that is, a little far from a teenager.

Sex Education became popular on Netflix for portraying some teenage conflicts, however, the actors who play the characters are a little older. This is the case of Tanya Reynolds, the eccentric Lily. In the series, the actress plays a 17-year-old girl, but when the production aired for the first time, she was already 28.

Atypical tells the story of an 18-year-old boy diagnosed on the autism spectrum. Who lives the character is Keir Gilchrist who at the time was already 25 years old. However, anyone who thinks the age difference is evident is wrong, as the actor passed quietly by a younger boy.

Also in Atypical, we have Casey Gardner, Sam’s younger sister. The character is 15 years old in the first season of the series, an age a little different from Brigette Lundy-Paine, the actress who lives the role and was already 22 years old.

Jacob Elordi became popular playing a teenager in A Barraca do Beijo, however, the boy returned to play a younger character in Euphoria, living Nate Jacobs, a young man in his 18s. At the time of the first season he was only 21 years old, a minimal difference, however, the second season was only released in 2022, the boy is now 24 and still plays the youngest character.

If you don’t know Zendaya for her performance in Spider-Man, you’ve certainly seen the actress shining in Euphoria, living the character Rue, just 17 years old. However, the actress is a little older than the protagonist. In the first season of the series, the actress was 22 years old, and now she is 25, starring in the second season.

Claudia Salas gained prominence in the second season of Elite, a Spanish Netflix series. In production, Rebeka is about 18 years old, however, the actress was already a little older when she first played the character, she was 25 years old. In 2022, the series reaches its fourth season, and Claudia continues to play the same role.

Miguel Bernardeau appeared in the first season of Elite, with a prominent character. At the time, the actor was 22 years old and played Guzman, an 18-year-old high school student. At the end of the fourth season, the production hinted that this was the end of the character in the series.

Asa Butterfield began his career as a child, with prominent roles in The Boy in the Striped Pajamas and The Invention of Hugo Cabret. Since then, he has not let go of acting. In Sex Education, he gives life to the main character, Otis Milburn, who in the first season is 16 years old, while the actor was already 22.

Bridgerton is one of Netflix’s recent hits, and in it we have Nicola Coughlan living Penelope Featherington, a very important character for the development of the plot. The young woman plays a 17-year-old girl, however, the actress’s age is quite different: at the premiere of the production, she was already 34.
