For us Umbandists, and I believe for Candomblecists, each Orixá or entity (entity for Umbanda, since Candomblé only works with Orixás) has a color that represents it. A strength point color, which differs between the two religions for some Orixás.

What is the Umbanda guide for?

The guide in Umbanda serves to protect the medium or the person who uses it, as well as to identify and represent the entities and Orixás of that person.

There are some guides that are made with seven rounds, there are the brajas (these are always related to the degree of importance of the medium in that chain), although it is not the guide that transforms the medium, in fact the only thing that transforms him and gives him an extra degree in Umbanda will always be his honesty, humility and truth.

So, it doesn’t matter if your outfit is the most beautiful, if your leash is longer, beautiful or well-crafted! For if there is no mediumship and good mediumship, everything he uses is of no use.

But spiritually speaking, the color of each guide imposes on less evolved spirits a certain fear of getting close to the person wearing it.. Meaning of Umbanda guide colors
