Psalm 56 is attributed to King David. It is considered a psalm of lamentation, used to fortify faith and establish connections with the Spirit World. David’s psalm shows strong emotions and talks about the remarkable situation that the King was experiencing at the time he cried out to God.

Sung in community worship, the 56th psalm is sung in community worship, as it is addressed to the chief musician and should be performed to the tune of the song Silent Dove in a Far Land.

Psalm 56 has the same setting as Psalm 34, as both talk about strong emotions and conflicting times that David was going through. Therefore, it should be proclaimed when the person feels alone, afraid and without hope, as he speaks about trust in the Lord and faith that everything will work out.

The structure of the poem is as follows: (1) cry to God, David’s only helper (v. 1,2); (2) profession of faith in God (v. 3,4); (3) description of the work of his enemies (vv. 5-7); (4) confession of reason for trusting God in affliction (vv. 8-11); (5) vow of praise to the Lord (v. 12,13).

“Have mercy on me, O God, because man seeks to devour me; struggling every day, he oppresses me. My enemies seek to devour me daily; for there are many who fight against me, O Most High. In any time I fear, I will trust you. In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what the flesh can do to me.

Every day they twist my words; all your thoughts are against me for evil. They gather, they hide, they mark my steps, as if waiting for my soul. Shall they escape through their iniquity? O God, bring down the peoples in your anger! You count my wanderings; put my tears in your odre. Are they not in your book?

When I cry to you, then my enemies will turn back: this I know, because God is for me. * In God I will praise his word; in the Lord I will praise his word. In God I have put my trust; I will not fear what man can do to me. Your vows are upon me, O God; I will render you thanksgiving; For you have delivered my soul from death; wilt thou not deliver my feet from falling, to walk before God in the light of the living?”

Psalm 57 is addressed to people who need to seek refuge and strength. If you are going through a complicated situation in which only God can help you, this is the psalm that you should turn to and trust. It’s a poem by David, when he needed to take refuge in a cave, he slipped up against Saul and regretted it.

Indicated for people who want to get rid of their daily fears, Psalm 57 is able to protect, give strength and courage. In addition, it provides peace, brings clear ideas to get out of complicated situations, reinforces faith and is used, most of the time, to feel the hands and presence of the Creator. The strength of this psalm is in the certainty of receiving all the support and all the mercy of the Divine.

“Have mercy on me, O God, have mercy on me, for my soul trusts in you; and in the shadow of your wings I take refuge, until the calamities pass. I will cry out to the Most High God, to the God who does everything for me. He will send from Heaven, and save me from the scorn of him who sought to devour me (Selah). God will send his mercy and his truth.

My soul is among lions, and I am among those who are aflame, children of men, whose teeth are spears and arrows, and their tongue is a sharp sword. Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; may your glory be over all the earth. They set up a net for my steps; my soul is downcast. They dug a pit before me, but they themselves fell in the middle of it (Selah). My heart is ready, O God, my heart is ready; I will sing, and give praise.

Awake, my glory; awake, psaltery and harp; I myself will wake up at the break of dawn. I will praise you, Lord, among the peoples; I will sing of you among the nations. For your mercy is great to the heavens, and your truth to the clouds. Be exalted, O God, above the Heavens; and let your glory be over all the earth.”

Psalm 63 made by David while he was in the desert of Judah, serves to teach many things, mainly that we are on Earth subject to many difficult times. For David, God is a strong God and therefore he sought Him tirelessly.

In Psalm 63, the King compares his body to the arid, weary, and waterless land. In some moments, our arid desert is our enemies or conflicting situations that we need to go through and, due to that, the psalm is so important. For he is able to reestablish our faith and gives us courage.

Indicated for people who are going through difficult problems, who face small storms or who cry due to anxiety, David’s psalm 63 brings comfort, peace and calms anxiety. For those who are going through a crisis, putting their trust in this prayer will make all the difference.

“O God, you are my God, early in the morning I will seek you; my soul thirsts for you; my flesh longs for you in a dry and weary land where there is no water; To see your strength and your glory, as I saw you in the sanctuary. Because your kindness is better than life, my lips will praise you. So I will bless you as long as I live; in your name I will lift up my hands.

My soul shall be satisfied as with marrow and fatness; and my mouth will praise you with joyful lips. When I remember you in my bed, and meditate on you in the watches of the night. Because you have been my helper; then in the shadow of your wings I will rejoice. My soul follows you closely; your right hand upholds me.

But those who seek my soul to destroy it will go to the depths of the Earth. They will fall by the sword; they will be food for the foxes. But the king will rejoice in God; whoever swears by him will boast; for the mouths of those who speak lies will be stopped.”

In Psalm 74, the psalmist laments the destruction of Jerusalem and the Temple under Nebuchadnezzar, the king of Babylon. He finds himself sad and disappointed, choosing to cry out to God and ask him for permission. For him, the psalmist, God should not have allowed such cruelty, however, when reading the book of the prophets Isaiah, Jeremiah and Ezekiel, the will of the Divine is understandable.

Anxiety hinders our ability to concentrate and discern. It prevents us from making clear decisions and achieving our goals, so it is important to turn to Psalm 74 in order to combat sadness, anxiety and anguish. With faith and an open heart, the psalm will be able to lift the heaviness that is in your being.

“O God, why have you rejected us forever? Why does your anger burn against the sheep of your pasture? Remember your congregation, which you purchased from of old; from the rod of thine inheritance, which thou hast redeemed; from this mount Zion, where you dwelt. Lift up your feet to perpetual desolations, to all that the enemy has done evil in the sanctuary.

Your enemies roar in the midst of your holy places; they put their ensigns for signs on them. A man became famous as he lifted finds against the thickness of the trees. But now every carved work at once breaks with axes and hammers. They cast fire into your sanctuary; they have desecrated the dwelling place of your name to the ground. They said in their hearts, ‘Let us spoil them at once’.

They burned all of God’s holy places on Earth. We no longer see our signs, there is no longer a prophet, nor is there anyone among us who knows how long this will last. How long, O God, will the adversary defy us? Will the enemy blaspheme your name forever? Why do you withdraw your hand, namely, your right hand? Get it out of your bosom.

Yet God is my King from of old, working salvation in the midst of the earth. You divided the sea by your strength; you broke the heads of the whales in the waters. Thou didst break the heads of Leviathan in pieces, and gavest him for food to the inhabitants of the wilderness. You split the fountain and the brook; you dried up the mighty rivers.

Yours is the day and yours is the night; you prepared the light and the sun. You have established all the boundaries of the earth; summer and winter you made them. Remember this: that the enemy affronted the Lord and that a crazy people blasphemed your name. Do not give the soul of your turtledove to wild animals; do not forget forever the lives of your afflicted. Attend to your covenant; for the dark places of the earth are full of abodes of cruelty.

Oh, do not return ashamed to the oppressed; praise your afflicted and needy name. Arise, O God, plead your own cause; remember the affront that the madman makes you every day. Do not forget the cries of your enemies; the tumult of those who rise up against you continually increases.”

Interestingly, the 65th psalm of the bible carries with it a rescue energy, capable of delivering us from the tribulations of life. Whatever problem you are going through, keep in mind that God is here to help you. If you are part of the team of people who are burdened by afflictions, then this psalm and feel it bring peace and hope to your heart.

Psalm 65 is indicated to be used in the recovery of health and overcoming any illness, in order to enhance physical energy until returning to normal life. He helps in personal difficulties and trials, as well as protects from calamities with fire and water. The strength of this psalm is in the search for overcoming.
