In Psalm 35, David appeals to God to help him fight the enemies who hated and persecuted him. It thus became the perfect prayer for anyone seeking protection from people who wish evil.

See what Psalm 35 says

1. Plead, Lord, with those who plead with me; fight against those who fight against me.
2. Take the shield and the wheel, and arise to my help.
3. Take away the spear and block the way for those who persecute me; say to my soul: I am your salvation.
4. Let those who seek my life be confounded and put to shame; turn back and be ashamed of those who harm me.
5. Be like a mill before the wind; the angel of the Lord make them flee.
6. Let their way be dark and slippery, and let the angel of the Lord pursue them.
7. For without cause they hid the net from me in the pit, which they dug without reason for my soul.
8. May destruction come upon him without knowing it, and let the net which he hid ensnare him; let him fall into that same destruction.
9. And my soul shall rejoice in the Lord; he will rejoice in his salvation.
10. All my bones will say, Lord, who is like you, who deliver the poor from him who is stronger than he? Yes, the poor and needy of the one who robs him.
11. False witnesses arose; they have laid things against me that I did not know.
12. They turned me evil for good, stealing my soul.
13. But as for me, when they were sick, my garments were sackcloth; I humbled my soul with fasting and my prayer returned to my bosom.
14. I behaved as if he were my brother or friend; he was wailing and very stooped over, like one who weeps for his mother.
15. But they in my adversity were glad and gathered together; the abjects gathered against me, and I knew not; they tore me apart, and did not cease.
16. With mocking hypocrites at parties, they gnashed their teeth against me.
17. Lord, how long will you see this? Rescue my soul from its desolations, and my favorite from the lions.
18. I will praise you in the great congregation; among a great many people I will celebrate you.
19. Do not let my enemies rejoice in me without reason, nor let those who hate me without cause beckon with their eyes.
20. For they do not speak of peace; rather they design to deceive the quiet of the earth.
21. They open their mouths wide against me, and say: Ah! Oh! our eyes have seen it.
22. You, Lord, have seen him, do not be silent; Lord, do not be far from me:
23. Awake and awake to my judgment, to my cause, my God and my Lord.
24. Judge me according to thy righteousness, O Lord my God, and let them not rejoice over me.
25. Do not say in your hearts: Ah! our soul! Do not say: We have devoured it.
26. Let them be ashamed and confounded with one another who rejoice in my evil; let those who exalt themselves against me be clothed with shame and confusion.
27. Let those who love my righteousness sing and be glad, and say continually: The Lord be magnified, who loves the prosperity of his servant.
28. And so shall my tongue speak of your righteousness and of your praise all day long.
