Know what is Spiritualism? – Blog

The spiritist doctrine is seen as religion for some and philosophy for others, but the important thing is that it has guided the lives of thousands of people around the world since the 19th century. In fact, mediumship has always existed. There are records of people who saw and spoke with spirits since ancient Egypt and phenomena such as moving objects, knocking on walls and figures have been observed since ancient times. Therefore, we will explain what is spiritism and its origin.

However, it was in the 1850s that Professor Denzard Rivali (who later became known as Allan Kardec) decided to study a specific situation: The Turning Tables. It was a meeting in which people came into contact with spirits, who answered questions by knocking the table on the floor a few times, indicating “yes” or “no”. The professor was convinced that there was no charlatanism in history and began to study the topic. It was then that he brought up the notion that spirits have a lot to teach us and tell us about the world of the living and the dead.

From conversations with beings from the world of the dead and the results of his research, he wrote “The Spirits’ Book” and then other works that together form the basic literature of the Spiritist Doctrine: “The Mediums’ Book”, “The Gospel According to Spiritism”, “Heaven and Hell” and “The Genesis”, with which he seeks to clarify what Spiritism and the Spiritist Doctrine are.

According to Allan Kardec himself, the Spiritist Doctrine deals with “the nature, origin and destiny of spirits, as well as their relations with the corporeal world and the moral consequences that emanate from it”. What spiritism preaches the most is love of neighbor, forgiveness of offenses and charity. The teacher already said: “Without charity there is no salvation”.

Spiritism focuses mainly on the moral improvement of man. Even for spiritists, reincarnation is exactly a way for our spirit to learn and evolve. Each life we have teaches us something important for our ultimate evolution. “To be born, to live, to die and to be reborn again, always progressing. Such is the law”, Allan Kardec.

It is important to emphasize that all religions believe in the spiritual world. Their difference to Spiritism is that Spiritism believes in communication with this world with the help of mediums.

Know some principles to understand what Spiritism is

  • Unity of God – Spiritism does not believe in the Holy Trinity. For spiritists, God is the supreme intelligence, he is something; not someone.
  • Reincarnation – The spirit must return to the world of the living as many times as necessary to evolve and reach moral and material perfection.
  • Communicating with Spirits – Through mediums it is possible to get in touch with spirits and learn more about the conduct we should have, in addition to discovering what happens on the other side.
  • Law of cause and effect – All your words, actions and thoughts from the past build the future from now. “Whoever sows good reaps good. Whoever sows evil, reaps evil.”
  • Jesus – He was created by God to be the greatest guide and model for all mankind.
  • Charity – We must not only help others with acts of charity, but we must do good to those who are by our side, without judgment and always forgiving.
