Is Pluto a planet? Find out everything about the star. – Map of My Heaven

One of the biggest astronomical controversies is the question: is Pluto a planet or not?

In fact, years ago it was demoted from our solar system, but believe me, the discussion continues!

Be that as it may, it does have great importance, including in the astrological field.

Therefore, understand everything about this issue and see the issues involving Pluto, not only in astronomy, but also in astrology and mythology.

Is Pluto a planet? Understand the controversy.

Most people reading this article learned at school that the solar system was made up of nine planets, including Pluto.

It turns out that, on August 24, 2006, the International Astronomical Union (IAU) decreed that it would no longer be a planet in the main series, being demoted to the category of planet/dwarf.

But why is Pluto no longer a planet?

Basically, after much debate, 424 astronomers voted and decided that Pluto would no longer be part of the main planets in our solar system. In fact, its time of glory was very short, as it was officially discovered in 1930.

The basic criteria for this decision were that it should be a spherical celestial body, orbit the Sun (without being a satellite of another object) and have a dominant gravitational mass.

In other words, our former little planet did not pass the last criterion, since thousands of objects orbit around it that it cannot attract, due to its weak gravity.

Therefore, not even Pluto’s five moons were enough to change their minds, which left many astronomers around the globe completely outraged.

Recently, Alan Stern, who commanded NASA’s New Horizons mission (which arrived at the dwarf planet in 2015), took a stand against this fact again. According to him: “using the term planet makes people understand that this is an important place in space”.

New Horizons detected blue skies on Pluto, as well as ice mountains, which would make it even more characteristic of the main series.

Pluto Characteristics

Even with the current view, which contradicts the fact that Pluto is a planet, it is worth mentioning its main characteristics.

It is 2,370km in diameter, with its atmosphere basically composed of methane, carbon monoxide and nitrogen.

As for the distance from our star king, it is another factor that means he is not interacting with the rest of the group. It is about 5.9 billion km away from the Sun, which makes space missions there quite complicated. After all, it takes them 9 years just to reach it.

Pluto in Astrology

In the field of astrology, Pluto does have a very important role and must be considered!

In fact, it represents the great transformations that happen in our lives. But, those that come in a non-subtle way and that don’t ask for permission.

It is associated with House 8 of our birth chart, which deals with aspects of death and healing. After all, it is necessary to “die” what is old, to heal and be reborn better and stronger.

As its translational movement is very slow (occurs every 248 years), it takes between 12 and 32 years to exert its influence. This energy, then, marks entire generations.

In this way, Pluto indicates that it is necessary to reach unconsciousness to regenerate into a more lucid version that meets the collective. It’s diving into deep waters and then breathing at the surface, freeing yourself from the ego.

Therefore, the area where Pluto is in your birth chart indicates challenge and anguish, as it is not always easy to face what we need head on. However, surrender is necessary, as resisting change is always the worst thing.

Furthermore, he is the ruler of the Scorpio sign, which makes perfect sense.

In fact, Scorpios are mysterious and work on the “either all, or nothing” system. Magnetism and control are very strong characteristics of this sign and normally when its natives are certain about something, they rarely go back.

Pluto in Mythology

Since Pluto is the planet (or era) of transformations, let’s get into its mythical aspects!

In Greek mythology, Pluto was Hades, son of Cronus and Rhea. In addition to being the god of the underworld, he was merciless, considered the most feared among them.

In the article about the planet Neptune we talk about the battle that defeated Cronos and freed his children from tyranny. According to mythology, control of the universe was divided between the gods, with Hades inheriting the kingdom of the dead.

Since then, he would live far from Olympus, isolated in a completely hidden and sad place, deep within the Earth. No one mentioned his name, due to the fear he incited. He also wore a helmet made by Hephaestus, an item that made him invisible.

Despite what people think, Hades was not the god of death but rather the one who judged and dealt with souls after the transition occurred.

Always quiet and mysterious, Hades leads us to reflect on what has no escape and how silent the transformation in our lives can be.
