September 29 is one of the most important dates for the Christian calendar, as the commemoration of the Archangels day. Before, only the day of Archangel Michael was celebrated. It is a moment that brings us closer to the three most popular archangels within the Christian world: Michael, Raphael and Gabriel.

The Importance of Archangels Day

Miguel, Rafael and Gabriel are the beings who receive our prayers and take them to the heavens, helping us to obtain protection, strength and prosperity on our journey, that’s why the celebration of the Archangels’ day is so important. The Church believes in the existence of angels based on the Bible, but faith in them is not restricted to Catholic Christians, being very common belief and devotion in different cultures around the planet.

Archangels are celestial creatures, purely spiritual, with intelligence and will, being neither mortal nor corporeal, and normally invisible. They are always in the divine presence, that’s why they are so often mentioned in our intercessions.

They are all part of the Third Hierarchy, the last of the orders. They have a strong presence within biblical and apocryphal stories, for these and other reasons that the day of the Archangels deserves to be celebrated. Archangel Michael – Who is like God

The greatest of the Archangels, he is the only one called that within the Bible. His name in Hebrew means “Who is like God”, in an allusion to his proximity to the divine, but also a rhetoric to the idea that no one can compare himself to the creator, thus showing his humility. He is still the supreme leader of the heavenly host and of the angels faithful to God. Michael is the Archangel of justice and repentance, a warrior and patron saint of the Catholic Church. His devotion is very common to those who need protection and strength.

Archangel Raphael – God Heals You

Patron of the blind, doctors, priests and also of travelers, soldiers and squires. His name is associated with healings of all kinds, spiritual, physical and emotional. Archangel Raphael is mentioned in the Apocrypha of Tobias, helping him on his way and performing healings along the way. His name means “God heals you” or “God’s healing”.

Archangel Gabriel – The Messenger of God

His name means, in free translation, “The Messenger of God”, being the chosen one to pass his messages to the earth, as the warnings to the prophet Zechariah of the pregnancy of his wife Elizabeth and the announcement of the arrival of Christ. Being then a very close link of the divine with the earth.

We know through history the importance of each one of these celestial beings and how much they can intercede for us, for our requests and faith, so that everything comes true. All of them perform a special mission on our behalf. Archangels Day is a beautiful way to celebrate and honor our protectors from all dangers.
