1. Preparation for reading the coffee grounds

2. How to get started

To take a Turkish coffee reading, you’ll need intuition, charismatic storytelling, and a decent knowledge of symbols. While the coffee is running down the cup, use the 5-10 minutes to talk to the person who drank it. It’s okay to ask them details about their intentions and why they feel anxious about the future in coffee grounds reading.

In some countries, diviners will read both the cup and the saucer. After about 5-10 minutes, the cup will be ready to be read. The soothsayer will only catch the cup trying to separate it from the saucer

If the cup and saucer do not immediately separate because of suction, the cup is considered not to be read. This is called the “Prophet’s Cup” and is very auspicious, favoring the drinker’s intention.

If most of the coffee sediment ran from the cup to the saucer, the fortune teller should comment that “worries are leaving” the person who drank the coffee.

A perfect little raised mound on the saucer suggests that “the money will come soon”.

In some countries, if the cup leaves a perfect circle outlining the edge of the saucer, it means that the intention will come true, while a broken circle suggests otherwise. There are several ways to interpret the cup. The most common are:

• • Past, present and future readings where the bottom of the cup represents the past, the middle of the cup shows the present situation, while the area around the rim symbolizes the future
• • Five-section readings divide the cup into five general sections that have representative meaning. If you turn the cup so that the cup’s handle is pointing towards you, the fortune teller, then

• • On the other side of the cup handle is the section related to money and wealth
• • The left side of the handle symbolizes the current situation of the person who drank the coffee

3. Symbols

Vertical lines are your goals in life. The longer and darker the line, the better the result. If the line reaches the rim of the cup, it is considered auspicious for that purpose. All straight lines or paths show a clear plan with specific goals, while wavy or broken lines signify uncertainty.

A group of black dots means you can get money soon. Some also interpret these points as messages that you will soon receive.

4. Letters and numbers

Now, remember that symbology can vary greatly between cultures. The previous step described some very common meanings, but from this step onwards, you may want to look for symbolic meanings specific to your culture and region. Numbers

The numbers can have a numerical or symbolic meaning, depending on the cup’s general story and the reader’s interpretation. If the meaning is numerical, it means that an event will happen in a certain number of days, weeks, months, or that one has or will get a certain amount of something.

Some of the symbolic meanings of numbers are:
