In fact, his image of importance and representative of God is such that many women, when giving birth to a child, baptize him with the same name.

It is common throughout history for people to learn that Gabriel was the angel responsible for talking to Mary about the child she would bear. But after all, who is in fact the angel Gabriel and what is he like? These are some questions that people usually ask themselves. Thinking about it, we decided to tell Gabriel’s story and how he is seen in other religions. Check it out below!

If you are a person connected to religion, you have certainly wondered what the angel Gabriel is like. If you are part of the team of people who have no connection with religion and would like to know the story of one of the most important archangels, you are in the right place.

Next, learn about the origin and history of the angel Gabriel, what are his characteristics and, above all, what is his influence on other religions.

Angel Gabriel, also known as the messenger of God, is known to have announced the arrival of Jesus Christ. For believers, Gabriel is the messenger of good news. Together with Michael and Raphael, he forms the triad of archangels, the high-ranking ward of angels who are responsible for carrying out God’s orders.

His name is of Hebrew origin and means ”Warrior of God”, however it is generally translated as Messenger of God. He is recognized as ”chief” of favored angels and spirit of truth.

He was responsible for announcing the pregnancy of Elizabeth, wife of the prophet and priest Zechariah, who gave birth to John the Baptist, as well as announcing to Mary that she would be the mother of the baby Jesus.

Furthermore, it gave the greatest news of Catholicism: the mission of the son of God was to save humanity. Gabriel first appears in a mention in the Book of Daniel in the Hebrew Bible. In some traditions he is regarded as one of the archangels, in others as the angel of death. Check out more about the Archangel below.

Like all angels, Gabriel is a spiritual being who has intelligence and moral capacity, that is, he has personality. Angels, although spiritual entities, they have the power to present visual characteristics. According to Daniel, in his biblical passage, Gabriel presented himself to him in the appearance of a man.

There are biblical accounts that say that those who benefited from the illustrious presence of Gabriel were apprehensive, afraid and perplexed. This indicates that Gabriel’s appearance in manifested form is glorious.

But this does not mean that all this splendor comes from him. Gabriel, like all the other holy angels of God, in some measure proclaims and reflects the glory of his Creator.

According to beliefs and religions, Gabriel is the representation of God on Earth, responsible for bringing hope, good news and fulfilling supposed desires. Gabriel fulfills God’s greatest purposes on Earth and, because of that, along with Michael, they are the only ones who are named in important biblical passages.

Currently, Archangel Gabriel is considered the patron saint of telecommunication services, messengers and post offices.

The Angel Gabriel is celebrated annually on the 29th of September. On the other hand, the 25th of March is celebrated in commemoration of the Solemnity of the Annunciation of the Lord. The date, celebrated by Catholics, recalls the day that Mary, mother of the baby Jesus, said yes to God and conceived the pregnancy.
