April 29 – Mercury in the greatest eastern elongation: Mercury will again give the air of his grace. This time, it will appear at its highest point in the western sky after sunset.

April 30 – Partial Solar Eclipse: On this day, the Moon will partially cover the Sun. This powerful astrological event can be seen mainly in the south of South America. However, the best view will be in Argentina, when the Moon will cover 53% of the Sun.

However, in Brazil we will not have a good view of this astrological event, which will appear in its fullness in North America, Greenland, the Atlantic Ocean and parts of Western Europe and West Africa.

August 11 at 10:35 pm Full Moon, Supermoon: The last Supermoon of 2022 will take place on August 11. Enjoy this Moon and prepare a super romantic dinner with your love.
August 12 and 13 – Perseid Meteor Shower: This meteor shower is one of the best to watch, as it produces up to 60 meteors per hour at its peak. However, as there will be a Supermoon in the sky, it may be that its glow will overshadow the Perseids a bit. This meteor shower will radiate from the constellation Perseus after midnight on the 12th to the 13th of August.
August 14 – Saturn at opposition: the planet of the rings will be fully illuminated by the Sun, becoming visible throughout the night. With a medium-sized telescope it will already be possible to view Saturn’s rings and some of its brightest moons.

August 27 – Mercury at the greatest eastern elongation: Once again Mercury will give the air of grace in the sky and can be easily seen in the western sky, just after sunset. The New Moon will also help in visualizing this planet.

September 16 – Neptune in opposition: this is the best date to view this giant blue planet. Because it is fully illuminated by the Sun, it can be seen throughout the night through a telescope. However, due to its great distance from Earth, Neptune will only appear as a tiny blue dot in the sky.

September 25 at 6:54 pm New Moon
September 26 – Jupiter in opposition: It is time for the planet Jupiter to be fully illuminated by the Sun and visible to Earth’s inhabitants. With the use of binoculars, you will already be able to see the four largest moons of Jupiter appearing as bright spots on either side of the planet. With the aid of a medium telescope, it will be possible to observe some details of its cloud bands.

October 25 – Partial solar eclipse: there will be another partial solar eclipse, but again the phenomenon cannot be seen from Brazil. The best viewing will be in Russia, when the Moon will cover up to 80% of the Sun.

November 4 and 5 – Taurid Meteor Shower: Despite producing only 5 to 10 meteors per hour, this is a long-lasting shower. The Taurids will radiate from the constellation of Taurus, but your visualization will not be the best, as the Moon will be almost full.
November 8, at 8:02 am, Full Moon
November 8 – Total Lunar Eclipse: Eastern Russia, Japan, Australia, the Pacific Ocean and parts of western and central North America will be able to experience the beauty of a total lunar eclipse on November 8. In this eclipse, the moon acquires a darker color, a little rusty or even in shades of blood red.
November 9 – Uranus at Opposition: This is the best date to photograph Uranus, which will be fully lit by the Sun. With the use of a telescope you will be able to see it, however it will appear as a very small blue-green dot in the sky.
November 16, at 10:27 am, Waning Moon
November 17 and 18 – Leonid Meteor Shower: Radiant from the constellation Leo, the Leonid meteor shower produces up to 15 meteors per hour at its peak.

Lunar Calendar – December 2022

December 8 at 1:08 am, Full Moon
December 8 – Mars at Opposition: On this date, the red planet will be at its closest position to Earth and will be fully illuminated by the Sun, providing great photos. With the aid of a medium telescope, you will even be able to see some of the dark details on the surface of Mars.
December 13 and 14 – Geminid Meteor Shower: This meteor shower is not to be missed. It is capable of producing up to 120 multicolored meteors per hour at its peak. You can be sure that you will see a beautiful show.
December 16, at 5:56 am, Waning Moon
December 21 – Mercury at Greatest Eastern Elongation: Mercury appears again in the night sky just after sunset.
December 21 and 22 – Ursid Meteor Shower: This is a small shower that produces about 5 to 10 meteors per hour. However, as the Moon will be almost New, you will probably be able to have a beautiful visualization.
December 23 at 7:16 am, New Moon
