During his pilgrimage, Siddhartha took with him some men who had become enchanted by his philosophy. As he meditated, he always wondered about life, the pain and suffering that permeated the world, so he focused on not feeling pain anymore.

Above all, his detachment from material things reached the level of him eating only what fell from trees and bushes. He later realized that the middle way was the right way to go, without extreme food deprivation, for example.

And when he decided to accept food from a young woman who believed he was a spirit, he was abandoned by his followers. For they interpreted that Siddhartha had given up the purpose of following a path of enlightenment.

Despite being abandoned, Siddhartha walked for a while until he found a tree. Where he sat and would only get up after finding out about the truth he sought.

Buddha’s Birthday – Knowing who Siddhartha Gautama was

The commemoration rituals take place on the 8th of April, popularly known as Feast of the Flowers, or Feast of the Child Buddha. For it commemorates the birth of Siddhartha Gautama, and it is a feast dedicated to all children.

• toys.
