The other day, I found myself thinking about what my life would be like if I had made different decisions back then. If I hadn’t gone out to this place or that, found the friends I have today, done the things I’ve done and… well, if I hadn’t met you.

My world would be very different, of course. I don’t know exactly how I would be right now and what my reality would be if we had never met in this life. Talking about love: would I be with someone else? Wouldn’t he be with anyone?

For each path we choose to follow, we leave an infinity of hypotheses behind.

It is funny. We have our family members there, surrounding us for as long as we can remember, all linked by this eternal bond. But love is not like that: it comes from other streets, other fathers and mothers, other customs and sometimes, I don’t know, even from other countries! Suddenly we fall in love and someone so different becomes a fundamental piece of our days.

People like us, who, in one way or another, far or near, are always walking together and being part of our lives, complementing us in some way, understanding each other whenever possible, giving unconditional affection and being the most passionate company of all, which brings us many sighs.

being, finally, someone to call love. The one or the one who makes us change our relationship status on social media and takes our hand to enjoy things outside, enjoying this mutual happiness.

And then, hopelessly, we become attached to something and at the same time feel free to walk out the door whenever we want, and that’s pretty crazy. The only thing that unites us is our love.

That’s why I concluded that it’s damned lucky to be able to be with you today and give you as many hugs as I want. To enjoy the affection of someone I never imagined meeting, but always wanted to have by my side. Hearing you say the beautiful things you say to me, that make my stomach fill with butterflies.

Lift your feet to reach you and hear your mouth like this, very close, I’m your little girl. And I melt to know that, only in these simple words, there is an infinite meaning – that only we know.
