One of the stories about Kuan Yin says that she incarnated as Princess Miao Shan, who was the daughter of a cruel king and who wanted to force her to marry. As she refused, her father would have sent her to a temple to work non-stop, even going so far as to burn the place down, to make her change her mind.

As nothing went right, he would have sent people to kill her. However, Kuan Yin received help from everyone she helped and remained hidden. One day, the king became very ill and the goddess took care of him, using herbs, and showed no remorse for the difficulties he faced.

Her father, seeing his daughter’s kindness, asked forgiveness for his actions and ordered that several statues of her be scattered throughout the kingdom.
