Wedding: Autumn serves as inspiration for incredible decorations

Summer is still the favorite season for most brides, but believe me: autumn has its charm and deserves an opportunity to show that it can serve as inspiration. Using seasonal references, such as the absence of flowers and warmer lighting, the party’s look can be marked by the cozy atmosphere.

Who gives the tips to adhere to the concept-trend is Karin Mancusi, renowned event scenographer. The specialist explains that the main references for decorations in the autumn climate come from other countries, especially from the northern hemisphere, where the seasons are more marked by climate change. She also points out that it is important to bear in mind that the Brazilian climate can be full of surprises. “We always need to worry about rain, too much heat, or a sudden change in temperature with cold fronts. The weather in the city is always unpredictable, ”she recalls.

The external temperature, however, should not interfere with the bride’s choices for the party’s environments. Autumn-inspired party in the middle of November? Why not? “The bride can do anything! I never get tired of saying that the most important thing in a scenography is the light. With a change of light – not only the color, but the opening of the focus, temperature, intensity, etc – the desired climate is finalized. It is possible, for example, to have a party with earth tones in a winter atmosphere. Light is everything!” she states.

To create this event, totally inspired by central park autumn, the decorator relied on the expertise of Claudinha Rodrigues, from Perfil Lighting Design. Together they designed each focus of this party. To obtain this beautiful effect in the photos, the scenography team bet on the use of tone sur tone in the materials. “The secret is not to flatten a single shade of brown, not a single material. At this party we used leather, wood, mirrors and different fabrics so as not to be monotonous, ”he said. Another important trick to get the autumn mood is not to use amber light. “People tend to think that everything looks autumnal when the light is orange, but the effect can be disastrous. The party is left without depth, without contrast and monotonous.”

The absence of flowers is also essential for the composition of the theme. All the decoration was made with dry branches of jabuticaba tree painted in copper, loose maple leaves in the center of the large tables and arrangements with dehydrated magnolia leaves in the round tables, lounges and buffets. The use of brownish or reddish foliage in place of the green ones also helped a lot in the final composition.

To develop the color palette that will govern the look of the party, the decorator always presents the Pantone chart to the customer and together they define all the shades. “The color palette should have at least 5 shades. Remembering that brown and beige are not part of the color palette, they are just the starting point. It is necessary to select at least 3 shades of brown, 3 of beige and even gray for the ‘cold spots’, to create contrast”, explains Karin.

Usually considered a cold element, the mirror can be very useful at an autumn-inspired party. “The mirror reflects what we have at the party. So if we have candles, the mirror reflects heat image. At this party specifically, as there were 48 tall dry trees, we thought it would be very interesting to reflect this on the surface of the table. In the lounges, which need to be comfortable, leather and gray pinstripe fabrics prevailed”, he detailed.
