Wash the dishes with detergent or bar soap?

Washing the dishes requires unsuspected care. For those who wash the dishes every day, this statement may seem almost obvious, but the truth is that it is important to know the differences between products when deciding which one to buy at the supermarket.

Dishwasher

For those who use the dishwasher, care needs to be doubled to save money and also so that misuse does not damage the device.

It is worth noting that it is best to put in the machine only those parts that are not delicate or require special attention. The tendency, after some time washing the dishes in the machine, is that it acquires some scratches or even loses its original shine, so that exquisite games should continue to be washed by hand. In addition, it is worth using a tablet or drying liquid, so that water drop marks do not appear during drying.

Some models are suitable for washing pans and basins, but most have one or another restriction in this regard. Be sure to check the manufacturer’s indications and instructions to avoid inconvenience or even damage.

In general, it is not recommended to use washing powder (for clothes) when using the dishwasher. This is because the substances chosen by the factories to compose the formula of soaps and detergents serve specifically for this purpose, not being aggressive to the internal components (whether metals or plastics) of the device.

hand washing

In hand washing, the choice between stone soap, detergent or washing powder depends on the preferences and needs of the purchaser. Detergent is more effective in removing grease accumulated on dishes, but at the same time, it is much more aggressive to the environment after use. This is because the detergent is made from petroleum derivatives which, according to environmentalists, are not biodegradable.

Bar soap, in turn, is made from oil and fat (vegetable or animal) and, for this reason, is completely biodegradable. While detergent accumulates in the rivers and lakes it ends up in after being washed away by sewage, causing large layers of highly polluting foam, bar soap simply dissolves in water.

Try to use the detergent only to wash pans and bowls that are very greasy, giving preference to bar soap when the dishes are limited to plates, cutlery and glasses. That way, in addition to saving money (bar soap yields more and is cheaper than detergent), you will be collaborating with the preservation of the planet.
