The mom who takes pictures of athletic princesses to show girls don’t have to choose between being petite and sporty

To say that a girl is innocent does not mean that she is fragile. Children can surprise us in many ways and even a little girl with a delicate appearance can harbor unimaginable strength within her. It may seem like an oxymoron, but that’s what Heather Mitchell of HMP Couture Imagery, reveals in a series of photos in which the girls appear as athletic princesses. They wear beautiful dresses and carry sporting objects like a basketball and a baseball bat. The helpless girl turns into an independent girl who can do whatever she wants, from the easiest and most delicate work to the hardest and most brutal. The story behind these images is the most important thing in this beautiful project.

1. Heather Mitchell was in her daughter Paislee’s softball class when she confessed something to another mother…

2. She wanted her daughter to like sports because she was very athletic

3. The other mother said: “No, she is a girly girl”

4. But that comment made Heather think about a lot of things…

5. She realized that girls don’t have to choose between being feminine and athletic; they can be both

6. And that’s when she decided to take some pictures of her daughter in a princess dress using softballs

7. The images went viral and the next day she received an avalanche of messages from mothers who wanted their daughters to be photographed too

8. And it was then that she held some photo shoots, to help other girls and show that they don’t need to be pigeonholed into just one thing.
