“The Delomelanicon”: the book written by Lucifer.

The Delomelanicon (Delomelanicon) is a forbidden book whose author, as apocryphal as its pages, is none other than the Prince of Darkness; that is: Lucifer.

The title of the book —Delomelanicon— means: “about the summons of darkness.” Comes from Greek roots of the“summon”; melas, “black”; and ikosa meaningless particle that serves to form adjectives.

The legend of Delomelanicon It assures that Lucifer, after his defeat against the angels in the Celestial Wars, and his subsequent expulsion from heaven, fell in some remote part of the Earth, where he awaited the arrival of his first believer. He was not alone, by the way, other defeated ones – later known as demons – accompanied him; among them, his sister, Aradia.

Biblical myths place the fight between Lucifer and Michael, sent by God, at some point prior to the creation of the world. Bold analysts claim that this is a contradiction, since to be exiled and fall to Earth it is necessary for the Earth to exist, so its fall must have taken place at some point after the creation of the universe.

Others, less impressed by biblical contradictions, point out that the Fall is, in reality, symbolic; and that Lucifer’s descent into the world is a metaphor for his loss of angelic dignity and sudden passage into the material world, where he would be known as Satan.

Whatever the case, the majority—except for Milton’s Paradise Lost—agree that Lucifer remained active after his defeat. He sent his lackeys to tempt Eve with the Tree of Knowledge, and Adam with Lilith, strategies that, by the way, proved successful. Then came a period of inactivity, where Lucifer was introduced to the pages of the Delomelanicon.

It is believed that the Delomelanicon It is just a reflection, a deteriorated echo, of that first book written by Lucifer – the second would have been the Codex Gigas -, perhaps lost in the jaws of time. In short, it is a grimoire that describes the cult and rituals that the Prince of Darkness intended to receive; as well as the formula for making a pact with the devil, among other more or less chilling questions.

For others, the Delomelanicon It is a recipe book of black magic spells, more akin to the indiscreet apothecary than to the student of necromancy. If anything, the book is among the strangest ever written, or probably ever written.

The truth is that the Delomelanicon, like the Necronomicon, does not need to be real, in objective terms, to exist on the metaphysical plane. Fictions, and more specifically apocryphal books, often serve to give context to other, less innocent readings.

Due to the evasive nature of the Delomelaniconwe limit ourselves to a curious version of the De Umbrarum Regni Novem Portis, whose name means: The Nine Gates of the Realm of Shadows. As Arturo Pérez-Reverte mentions in the novel: The Dumas clubthe Nine Gates It was written by a certain Arístide Torchia, who in turn received that arcane knowledge from Lucifer himself. In this sense, we can think of it as an offspring of the Delomelanicon.
