Smart robots can already replace humans in some areas

There are those who believe that robots are close to replacing people: they are already patrolling streets, taking orders in restaurants and even playing football. Should we be happy about this or fear that, in the not too distant future, the machine rebellion will happen? Well, as they say, you have to wait and see.

O awesome.club presents 10 intelligent robots that can replace humans in areas where they are really needed.

clone robot

During a trip to Japan in 2015, Portuguese star Cristiano Ronaldo found his robotic clone, whose silicone parts were printed on a 3D printer. Bearing in mind that some robots have already developed artificial intelligence, we can assume that, in the not too distant future, specialists will “bring back to life” stars of music, cinema and sports from the past, so that they can participate in new projects . By the way, today something similar is already done with the help of holograms. For example, this music video of Michael Jackson was released 5 years after his death.

concierge robot

The Hotel Henn na (which means “stranger”), in Tokyo, Japan, surprises right away, because at the reception guests do not see people, but friendly robots, who receive visitors in Japanese, English, Chinese and Korean. Thanks to this peculiarity, Henn na is already on the Book of Records as the first hotel in the world to rely on the work of robots. Their human counterparts say guests enjoy dealing with the robots as they are always at their workplace and in a good mood.

flight attendant robot

Robots are also replacing people in the sky: this invention from Canada, called Isakwa, is able to serve passengers in the same way as human flight attendants do. This robot is equipped with compartments for hot meals and cold drinks, walks silently, knows how to take orders and can be called by the passenger at any time using a smartphone or tablet.

soccer player robot

Surprisingly, modern robots have learned to play football so well that there are even international championships dedicated to them. Who knows, maybe one day they will replace the real players? At least, that is the objective of the project’s creators, who plan, for the middle of the 21st century, a team of soccer players made up of humanoid robots winning a soccer game following FIFA rules and played against the winner of the World Cup .

host robot

The Pepper robot, created by the Japanese company SoftBank Robotics, can perform the tasks of a hostess (hostess). The machine is currently being tested at one of the most popular sushi restaurant chains, where it welcomes and greets customers. It seems that people are quite satisfied with this very different assistant. By the way, another identical Pepper (named Josie) works at the airport in Munich, Germany, as an information officer.

Sophia, the humanoid robot

Speaking of robots, it is simply impossible to ignore Sophia, a robot with an incredible feminine appearance, manufactured by the Hong Kong company Hanson Robotics. She is able to recognize faces, imitate human gestures and facial expressions, and can hold simple conversations. Over time, the robot should become even smarter: Sophia analyzes conversations and, based on the information received, improves her responses in the future. Her creator believes that further she will be able to fully interact with people, becoming a good helper for humans in the most important events.

farmer robot

Farmers in Cornwall, England, tested a novelty: a robot capable of harvesting cauliflower without damaging the vegetables. The machine’s creator, Martin Stoelen, from the University of Plymouth, believes that, in the future, his invention could replace human beings on farms, reducing the number of accidents related to the use of heavy machinery during harvesting.

police robot

In the Chinese city of Zhengzhou, the train station is patrolled by a robotic policeman who can answer questions and recognize faces, something that helps in the task of identifying, among passengers, eventual fugitives from justice. Also, among the responsibilities of this different police officer is the tracking of various threats such as fires or air pollution. However, China is not the only place where such a “defender of order” is used. Robot police are also present in Dubai.
