Single because I want to!

And who has never heard that famous question of “So, how are the boyfriends?” and when she replied “I’m single, I don’t want to date now…” the person who asked you looked at you with that face of “Wow, are you sure?! Poor thing…”.

Okay, so let’s get the facts straight here: First of all, being single is not a punishment, it’s not a sign of unhappiness or a reason to make people feel “poor things” in general. Second thing, being single can be an option, you know?

That is, I can be dating someone but I have the RIGHT to choose whether I want to or not. Third thing, the “I don’t want to date now” can be a temporary condition or it can be permanent and there are a lot of people who live very well alone and that’s it, oh, I’m alive to tell anyone!

The fact of being single does not mean that you are lonely because a woman can be single and have several men at her disposal, that is, being single and being alone is very different.

I like my relationship status like that and I don’t regret for a second that I chose to take this path in my life.

I don’t know if I’ll ever find someone to date, marry and the like, and know that I think it’s even cool, but for me at the moment it doesn’t work, it doesn’t fit… I want to change that!

I don’t want anyone to think I’m a poor thing just because I’m not the one who always takes her beautiful boyfriend, from a 5-year relationship to Sunday lunch, I don’t have a steady person because I DON’T want to and I’m very happy that way, you know?!

Finally, I want to make it clear to all my mother’s aunts, neighbors and friends that I’m single because I want to, period. I huh…
