See prayers to find lost objects

São Longuinho is invoked with the almost exclusive purpose of finding lost things. Although it is not known exactly if he existed or who São Longuinho was, his image is found with easy regularity. It is a man dressed as a monk and holding a lantern in his right hand, raised to the height of his face. The devotee prays and makes the request to São Longuinho, and when he finds the lost piece, he must jump three times and shout “São Longuinho”.

Saint Anthony, the saint of Padua and Lisbon, in addition to being a matchmaker, is a great “finder” of lost things. In fact, in the role of matchmaker, he is the one who finds the husband for the woman who wants to marry.
