Sailors are well-known characters in Umbanda. Always happy, they sing and drink, moving from here to there, giving the impression of being drunk, but in fact they are just seasick.

Sailors in Umbanda may have had the same profession in other lives or some very strong connection with the sea, such as hunters and caiçaras, for example. That’s why they like to wear white clothes and sailor uniforms.

What are they required for?

As the son of the queen of the sea, Yemanjá, his biggest goal is to bring a lot of axé to everyone on earth. They are messengers of peace and perform purification rituals with the magical and mysterious energies of the waters, as well as discharge ceremonies, consultations, passes, development of mediums and other works that may involve demands.

They carry with them a deep feeling of friendship and fraternity. And during their consultations, they really like to help those people who present themselves with love problems. Their advice is always faithful and accurate, because they have great responsibility and are committed to a job well done.

They usually work in groups, as they have already faced wars and rough seas, but they also know the calm and the calm. They position themselves in circles, sing and dance while swinging, transmuting the energy of the sea and Yemanjá.

How does the Umbanda sailor connect with spirits?
