Reducing bandage: learn how the technique that eliminates fat is done

No matter the time of year, most women always want to keep their body in shape and do not give up looking for aesthetic treatments that can help in the pursuit of their goals. It is within this context that the so-called reducing bandage has drawn a lot of attention for promising a reduction of more than three centimeters in a single session.

The method associates the use of specific gels – usually applied to the abdomen region – with gases in a continuous band (bandage) involving the patient’s body area. It can be done through cryotherapy (cold bandage) or thermotherapy (hot bandage) and, in both cases, it aims to promote lipolysis (breakdown of the fat cell, adipocyte), thus helping to reduce measures.

However, in the opinion of most professionals in the area, it is the cold bandage that has brought really satisfactory results, even helping to treat sagging, due to skin toning. Below you can find all the information about this procedure that has helped many women to achieve the desired body.

Cold bandage or cryotherapy

“The cold bandage consists of the application of a cryotherapeutic gel in a certain area of the woman’s body, which will then be wrapped with a band, in the direction of lymphatic circulation, for about 30 minutes”, explains Rafaella Félix, physical therapist, specialist in Dermatofunctional Physiotherapy.

As physical therapist Caroline Correr explains, in this procedure, thermogenesis and norepinephrine release will be stimulated. “The patient has an involuntary concentration to generate heat and muscle thermogenesis occurs. With exposure to cold, the main substrates to be oxidized are fatty acids, released from deposits in adipose tissue, causing energy consumption to double and the lipolytic response, that is, the breakdown of fat, to increase”, highlights the professional, who is a specialist in Dermato-Functional Physiotherapy.

The effectiveness of treatment

“The bandage has proved to be an important ally in reducing measurements, but it presents better results when associated with modeling massages or lymphatic drainage in the desired area of the body – which increase circulation and stimulate lipolysis”, says Rafaella Félix.

Number of applications

According to physical therapist Caroline, the treatment can be done up to three times a week, preferably after the modeling massage associated with lymphatic drainage, for a better effect in reducing measurements.

“The effect of the cold on the body lasts for two hours, and during this time, physical activity should not be done. After this period, it is good to do it, because the body uses the fatty acid that was not used”, adds the professional.

Contraindications

According to physical therapist Caroline, the contraindications are: “patients with cardiovascular disorders (cardiopathy, cardiac arrhythmia), hypothyroidism, hyperthyroidism, arterial microcirculation disorder, hypertension, dry skin, psoriasis, contact dermatitis, allergy to cold or to components of the formula, gastritis, ulcer, eczema, peripheral neuropathy, Raynoud syndrome and with compact cellulites”.

The physical therapist Rafaella adds that pregnant women should not count on the treatment either.

Bandaging at home?

Although several clinics offer this treatment today, many women try to achieve the results of the reduction bandage at home, with the purchase of bandages and reducing gel. It is also possible to find, on the internet, several recipes for creams to be made and applied at home, however, the recommendation is that only industrialized products are purchased, which have already been tested and approved, thus not offering risks of irritation to the person’s skin.

However, it is worth remembering that most professionals even recommend that the procedure be done in the clinic, even to achieve better results.

“The bandage must be done with professional guidance, since the patient cannot stimulate heat, that is, she must remain at rest during the application of the technique. Because the tendency is to want to warm up from the cold and, at home, she could move around or lie in a cup to get that feeling”, says Caroline Correr.

“The ideal is for the woman to look for a clinic that works with Dermato-Functional Physiotherapy, having previously carried out an evaluation to indicate the bandage. The number of sessions will also depend on the result of this analysis, meeting the needs of each patient”, concludes Rafaella Fêlix.

For better results, in addition to associating the treatment with massages or lymphatic drainage, it is very important to include physical activities and a healthy diet in your routine.
