The book of Psalms is a biblical passage composed of 150 chapters, in which are extremely strong and profound prayers, considered as true poems of the Bible. The themes of these prayers are as diverse as possible, and among them, there are also psalms against envy.

When talking about this topic, 17 main psalms can be mentioned, in which they range from protection of the family against envy, to general protection against evil. In the sequence, get to know these psalms in more detail, and shield yourself against any kind of evil, praying with faith.

Psalm 5 is a prayer of lamentation made by King David, from the moment he was stunned by the plagues launched by his enemies. Thus, he asks God not to abandon him in this difficult moment. Therefore, if you and your family have also suffered from the plagues and evil eye of the envious, pray this Psalm with faith.

“Give ear to my words, O Lord; attend to my groans. Answer the voice of my cry, my King and my God, for it is to you that I pray. In the morning you hear my voice, O Lord; in the morning I present my prayer to you, and I watch.

For you are not a God who takes pleasure in iniquity, nor shall evil dwell with you. The arrogant will not stand before your eyes; you hate all evildoers. You destroy those who speak lies; the bloodthirsty and deceitful man the LORD abhors.

But I, by the greatness of your lovingkindness, will come into your house; and in your fear I will bow down to your holy temple. Guide me, Lord, in your righteousness because of my enemies; smooth your way before me.

Because there is no faithfulness in their mouth; its entrails are true evil, its throat is an open sepulchre; they flatter with their tongue. Declare them guilty, O God; let them fall by their own counsels; cast them out because of the multitude of their transgressions, because they rebelled against you.

But rejoice all who trust in you; let them rejoice forever, because you defend them; yea, let them that love thy name glory in thee. For you, Lord, bless the righteous; you surround him with your favor like a shield.”

Another of David’s Psalms of lamentation, in this prayer the king appears differently. During Psalm 7, David is strong and confident in divine justice. The psalmist further declares himself innocent of the injustices in which his enemies accuse him.

David stands firm, because he has a clear conscience, and the full certainty that God will punish all the guilty. So, if you’ve been going through injustices and false accusations, pray Psalm 7 with hope.

“O Lord my God, in you I find safety. Save me, deliver me from all who persecute me. Don’t let them, like a lion, catch me and tear me to pieces, with no one able to save me. O Lord my God, if I have done any of these things: if I have committed any injustice against anyone.

If I betrayed a friend, if I committed violence against my enemy for no reason. Then let my enemies pursue and seize me! May they leave me lying on the ground, dead, and left lifeless in the dust! O Lord, arise in wrath and face the fury of my enemies! Get up and help me, because you demand that justice be served.

Gather all peoples around you and reign over them from above. O Lord God, you are the judge of all people. Judge in my favor, for I am innocent and upright. I ask you to put an end to the evil of the wicked and to reward the righteous. For you are a righteous God and judge our thoughts and desires.

God protects me like a shield; he saves those who are truly honest. God is a just judge; every day he condemns the wicked. If they don’t repent, God will sharpen his sword. He has already drawn his bow to shoot arrows. He takes up his deadly weapons and shoots his fiery arrows.

See how the wicked imagine evil. They plan disasters and live lying. They set traps to catch others, but fall into them themselves. Thus they are punished for their own wickedness, they are wounded by their own violence. But as for me, I will thank God for his righteousness and sing praises to the Lord, the Most High God.”

In Psalm 26 one finds prayers of lamentation and redemption. In this prayer, the psalmist shows himself as a righteous person, who asks God to make his judgment. The psalmist shows himself as a sinner, who has already been forgiven, and now wants to live in the fullness of God. So, if you also made a mistake, were forgiven and want to move forward on the path of light, pray Psalm 26 against envy.

“Judge me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity; in the Lord I have trusted without wavering. Examine me, Lord, and prove me; search my heart and my mind. For your kindness is before my eyes, and I have walked in your truth.

I have not sat down with false men, nor have I associated with deceivers. I hate the gathering of evildoers; I will not sit with the wicked. I wash my hands in innocence; and so, O Lord, I approach your altar, to cause the voice of praise to be heard, and to tell of all your wonders.

O Lord, I love the enclosure of your house and the place where your glory abides. Gather not my soul with sinners, nor my life with bloody men, in whose hands is mischief, and whose right hand is full of bribes. But as for me, I walk in my integrity; rescue me and have compassion on me. My foot is firm on level ground; In the congregations I will bless the Lord.”

Despite being more a prayer of lamentation, Psalm 31 is strongly related to the exaltation of faith. David begins the Psalm showing all his trust in God, and therefore he is sure that he will get rid of any kind of injustice on earth. So, if you too have been going through problems like this, do like David and trust fully in the Lord, praying the following Psalm.

“In you, Lord, I trust; never leave me confused. Deliver me by your righteousness. Incline your ear to me, deliver me quickly; be my firm rock, a very strong house that saves me. For you are my rock and my fortress; so, for your name’s sake, guide me and direct me.

Take me out of the net they hid for me, for you are my strength. Into your hands I commend my spirit; you have redeemed me, Lord God of truth. I hate those who indulge in deceitful vanities; I, however, trust in the Lord. I will be glad and rejoice in your lovingkindness, for you have considered my affliction; you have known my soul in distress.

And you did not hand me over to the enemy; you have set my feet in a spacious place. Have mercy on me, O Lord, for I am in distress. Consumed are my eyes, my soul and my womb with sadness. For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing; my strength fails because of my iniquity, and my bones waste away.

I was a reproach among all my enemies, even among my neighbors, and a horror to my acquaintances; those who saw me in the street ran away from me. I am forgotten in their hearts, like a dead man; I am like a broken vase. For I heard the murmuring of many, fear was all around; while they consulted together against me, they intended to take my life.

But I trusted you, Lord; and said, Thou art my God. My times are in your hands; deliver me from the hands of my enemies and those who persecute me. Make your face shine on your servant; save me by your mercies. Do not confuse me, Lord, because I have called on you. Confound the wicked, and let them be silent in the grave.

Mute the lying lips that speak evil things with pride and contempt against the righteous. Oh! how great is your goodness, which you have laid up for those who fear you, which you have wrought for those who trust in you in the presence of the sons of men! You will hide them, in the secret of your presence, from the insults of men; thou shalt hide them in a pavilion, from the strife of tongues.

Blessed be the Lord, for he has shown me wonderful mercy in a safe city. For I said in my haste: I am cut off from before your eyes; nevertheless, you heard the voice of my supplications, when I cried to you. Love the Lord, all you his saints; for the Lord protects the faithful and rewards with abundance what he uses pride. Be strong, and he will strengthen your hearts, all you who hope in the Lord.”

Considered a prayer of praise and wisdom, Psalm 34 is where King David celebrates his escape from the King of Gath, called Abimelech. During his passage through this region, Davi had to pretend to be crazy in order not to die. In the end, David shows how God answered him and delivered him from all evils. Therefore, pray in faith and believe that the Lord will do the same for you.

“I will bless the Lord at all times; his praise will continually be in my mouth. In the Lord my soul makes its boast; let the meek hear and rejoice. I magnified the Lord with me, and together we exalt his name.

I sought the Lord, and he answered me, and from all my fears delivered me. Look to him, and be enlightened; and your faces will never be confused. This poor man cried, and the Lord heard him, and delivered him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.

Taste and see that the Lord is good; blessed is the man who takes refuge in him. Fear the Lord, you his saints, for those who fear him lack nothing. The little lions need and suffer hunger, but those who seek the Lord will lack nothing good. Come, children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the Lord.

Who is the man who desires life, and wants long days to see good? Guard your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceitfully. Depart from evil, and do good: seek peace, and pursue it. The eyes of the Lord are upon the righteous, and his ears are attentive to their cry.

The face of the Lord is against those who do evil, to uproot the memory of them from the earth. The righteous cry, and the Lord hears them, and delivers them out of all their troubles. The Lord of the brokenhearted is near, and saves the brokenhearted. Many are the afflictions of…
