How Om originated

The most remote place where mention of Om was found was in the Mandukya Upishad – a sacred text of Hinduism.

This text defines Om as imperishable. In other words, it transcends time itself.

The text is also associated with the Vedanta – one of the six Hindu philosophies. He regards the symbol Om as inexhaustiblean infinite knowledge, the essence of everything that exists, including life itself.

Therefore, Om is known as the maximum, full and eternal happiness. It is the state where the person exists only as consciousness, being at peace with himself and with the whole universe around him.

The other explanation of the origin of the Om symbol comes from yoga. It is said that when the Universe was created, Om was the sound that provided the beginning of everything we see and feel.
