Believe me, the most anticipated movie of 2023 is Barbie. The doll created in 1959, and until today the best-selling in the world, will win a live-action that has generated expectations in Hollywood. This Wednesday (18), singer Dua Lipa – who has invested in her acting career – was confirmed in the cast and actor Simu Liu (interpreter of the hero of Marvel, Shang-Chi) revealed that he accepted the invitation to the film after of hearing from his agent that the script is one of the best of all time: “He said that if he could bet his career on any script, it would be ‘Barbie’”, the actor told the American press.
The plot will show Barbie in real life, and it seems that topics such as feminism and the struggles of women in modern society must be addressed, as well as sexism and gender-related issues. The lead role is played by Margot Robbie, and actresses Issa Rae and Hari Nef will share the character with her. Ken will be played by Ryan Gosling, in addition to Simu Liu and Ncuti Gatwa in the side stories.
And you can’t expect a bad movie anyway. Actress, director and screenwriter Greta Gerwig is directing and writing the live-action film and is one of the most recognizable women in Hollywood today. Her work gained notoriety after being nominated for an Oscar as Best Director for ‘Lady Bird’ (2018) and the six award nominations for ‘Little Women’ (2019).
