Before reaching the rehabilitation center, the animal was found sick, injured and nearly blind on a balcony.
The vets took care of him until he showed improvement and until they considered that his health was no longer a concern.
However, his caretakers decided not to release him due to vision loss.
It was a wise decision, as it prevented Zeus from having to survive alone in the wild, which, in the condition he was in, would be a risk.
Zeus has only 10% of the ability to see, which is very little for an animal like him. In normal situations, owls have very developed eyesight.
Now he lives at the Wildlife Learning Center, where he is cared for by professionals and is visited by thousands of loving people daily.
