Are there any benefits of mango leaf tea that are real?

Many supposed benefits of mango leaf tea circulate on the internet, but Joice says they are just popular beliefs, such as: controlling diabetes, helping with weight loss or strengthening the immune system. She explained that there is no scientific proof of these benefits.

Regarding diabetes control, she also pointed out: “a glucose tolerance test carried out on young non-diabetic volunteers, in order to investigate the effect on blood glucose reduction of tea prepared with mango leaves, concluded that the tea had no no control effect or drop in blood sugar.”

About weight loss, nutri recalled that no food, alone, has the power to help with weight loss. “For this to happen in a healthy way, there needs to be a dietary reeducation, but tea is a good source of hydration for individuals who have low fluid consumption” she concluded.

Contraindications to consumption of mango leaf tea

According to Joice, “tea consumption is contraindicated for the elderly, hypertensive patients and pregnant women since the effects of tea in this group of people have not yet been studied.”

How to make mango leaf tea

Nutri quoted a brief step by step to prepare tea at home. As she explained earlier, the drink can be a good ally to stay well hydrated. See how simple it is:

  • Put 4 mango leaves in 250 ml of water;
  • Bring to a boil and wait for it to boil;
  • Turn off the fire and wait for it to cool;
  • Strain and serve.
