Learn how to prepare your skin for makeup

One of the most important parts of makeup is skin preparation. Proper preparation of the skin to receive makeup makes the makeup last longer and the skin is well protected and hydrated, so it suffers less from the action of makeup products. Follow all the steps and enjoy your makeup even more beautiful:

1 – Remove impurities

If you have make-up on, first apply make-up remover and then wash your face thoroughly with a soap designed for deep cleansing. If you are without makeup, just use the soap. Wash and rinse your face well, to make sure you get rid of all impurities.

2 – Tone your skin

After cleansing your skin, apply an astringent or non-astringent facial toner, depending on your skin type. The toner helps to close the pores, giving your skin a younger, healthier appearance. In addition, the tonic collaborates with the recovery of some vitamins that the skin loses over time and keeps the skin away from oil for longer.

3 – Hydrate your skin before applying makeup

The next step in preparing the skin for makeup is hydration. Hydration serves to return the water lost during the day to the skin. Hydrated skin keeps makeup beautiful for longer and prevents it from cracking. Moisturizing before doing makeup is essential so that the skin is not attacked by makeup.

The application of the moisturizer can be done with the fingers, in small circular movements, to activate the circulation of blood in the face. Those with oily or combination skin should opt for a moisturizing gel or lotion, while women with dry skin should use moisturizing creams.

4 – Use the primer to ensure better results

The primer tightens the pores even more and holds the makeup on your face. Another benefit of using a primer is that it controls oil and skin texture so makeup doesn’t run or smudge during the day. The primer has versions for the face, mouth and for eye makeup. It is a great ally for those who need to spend many hours in makeup.

5 – Contour, blush and highlighter

After preparing the skin to receive the makeup, the next step is to apply foundation and finish the skin with contour (optional), blush and highlighter (optional). These features help to outline your face shape and are essential in party makeup or for evening events. Blogger Camila Coelho explains in the following video how to contour and how to apply blush and highlighter before proceeding with eye and mouth makeup:

Now just take advantage of these tips and make your skin even more beautiful, healthy and well-made up by preparing it in the right way before putting on makeup for any occasion.
