More than 90% of children feel some kind of fear related to going to hospitals. This data can be especially true when the treatment takes a long time and includes invasive procedures. And, as much as some little ones don’t have any kind of fear related to this type of environment, let’s agree that it’s not pleasant to spend hours or days looking at the cold and dull walls of a hospital. To make this journey a little more playful, an Italian artist created a project to help little patients fight their fears.
O awesome.club will tell the story of Silvio Irilli and his project Ospedali Dipinti (in Italian, “painted hospitals”), created to stimulate children’s creativity, transforming the dull walls of these environments into true enchanted worlds.
The artist creates enchanting paintings to help children deal with their fears
The project Ospedali Dipinti was created in 2012 and seeks, with the support of organizations, foundations and ordinary people, to make hospital spaces more child-friendly. Your goal is create a kind of magical world in hospital rooms and roomsto awaken children’s imagination, helping them to dream.
Children have the chance to “travel” to a fairytale world
Decorating the walls of a hospital is not just about making the space more beautiful. The artist believes that his work should interact with children and tell stories, so that they see the medical treatment more like a kind of jokeand not as a challenge or as a reason for suffering.
Adults also feel like they are entering another dimension.
Silvio’s works end up helping not only the children, but also the parents. The huge paintings that cover the walls give adults the impression that they are entering a magical world, making them also feel calmer, something very necessary in situations like these.
Silvio also shows his support for doctors
Silvio uses his paintings as a tool to spread a message of support to the doctors who will take care of the little patients. All works are printed on special wallpaper before being used to cover hospital walls.
Silvio and his team receive many positive comments about the work
The artist and his colleagues receive many positive comments on their Facebook page. People thank you for this beautiful initiative and they hope that the colorful illustrations really warm the patients’ souls.
