Have you ever thought about keeping your tanning up to date, even without exposure to the sun or in winter? That’s what iced bronze proposes, an interesting, healthy technique that moisturizes the skin. Check out all the information about this procedure below!
What is icy bronze?
We talked to dermatologist Leonardo Abrucio (CRM: 66591), from BP – A Beneficio Portuguesa, who explained to us what iced bronze is: “it is a self-tanning product, applied using the spray tanning technique. An air gun is used, connected to a portable compressor that sprays the product evenly. In this way, a tanned and homogeneous appearance is obtained”.
Leonardo explains that the product is natural and vegan. It contains substances that react with amino acids and keratin on the skin surface, forming melanoidin, responsible for the brownish color of tanning.
In addition, the application of the product takes about 20 minutes and you should wait 7 to 8 hours to shower after the procedure, as this is the time for the chemical reaction to be complete.

The dermatologist points out that the product is not recommended for children, pregnant and lactating women, as there are no studies that guarantee its safety. In addition, to preserve the durability of tanning on the skin, it is important to pay attention to the following precautions:
- After performing the procedure, avoid hot and long baths;
- Avoid rubbing the skin with loofahs and sponges;
- Do not use excess soap in the treated areas;
- Gently dry the skin with the towel;
- Apply moisturizing and hypoallergenic lotion to the body after bathing;
- Avoid carrying out excessive physical activities, as they favor the faster elimination of the product, due to the increase in sweat production.
homemade icy bronze
With regard to homemade iced bronze, there are dermatological products that provide more safety, practicality and effectiveness, as Leonardo points out. The dermatologist cites self-tanning products from the Avéne and La Roche Posay brands. According to him, to have better absorption, exfoliate the skin before the procedure.
How about knowing the step by step? Write it down: apply the product to dry and clean skin after showering. The application should be done with gloves, spreading the bronzer evenly throughout the body. Remember not to apply too much product to the bony folds and prominences. Wait 20 minutes to put on clothes and avoid sweating during the first four hours after application. After 7 to 8 hours, you can shower normally.
