“In general, for women, a neutral-colored suit or suit, pumps, light makeup and discreet accessories. You should avoid necklines, heavy makeup, transparent pieces and party clothes. Also avoid heavily loaded or shiny accessories, such as hoop earrings and jaw-dropping necklaces.

Formal look: Suit, dress pants or suit, shoes and basic accessories. Ideal for interviewing in large companies, large corporations, banks and administrative positions.

Casual look: Dark jeans without too many details, dress shirt, shoes and basic accessories. This look is the “wild card” of professional looks because it is not so formal and not so informal, fitting well for most types of company and positions.

Informal look: Jeans, knee-length shirts or dresses, shoes or sneakers and accessories. If the company in question is very informal and laid-back, you can opt for this more relaxed look to attend the interview.

Makeup for job interview

According to Catho’s HR manager, women can use nail polish and make-up, as long as it’s basic and light. “In makeup, it is recommended to use neutral shadows, light lipsticks and be careful with the blush so as not to exaggerate and draw too much attention, in this case the makeup serves to even out the face and hide imperfections” she advises.

Next, blogger Ge Flores from Borboletas na Carteira shows the step by step of a very soft makeup for the professional environment. For more formal companies, she replaces the pink lipstick with a more discreet lipstick, like a burnt pink, mouth color, very natural.
