How celebrities and their children influence the choice of baby names in Brazil (a list to inspire you)

Celebrities don’t just set fashion trends. Their names, and especially those of their children, are often replicated in several children across the country. A ranking made annually by the My Pregnancy and My Baby Today app clearly shows the trend. Influential celebrity baby names often gain traction on the lists of the 100 most popular girl names and 100 boy names in Brazil.

To create the lists, BabyCenter, the company that owns the application, counts the names of babies spontaneously informed by the user mothers (it is not mandatory to say what the child’s name is to use the program). Some of the results are quite revealing.

O awesome.club was curious to know which celebrities most influence the decision of moms and dads when choosing the names of their children. And it shares with you some of the strongest trends highlighted in the last ranking.

Miguel is the champion: has been number one on the boys list for 8 years. According to the My Pregnancy and My Baby Today app, the trend of short names like Gael (influenced by Mexican actor Gael García Bernal), Kael🇧🇷 Kael🇧🇷 Eliel🇧🇷 fael🇧🇷 Joel🇧🇷 abel and Loel was already strong. Now it tends to grow, because of Raelson of actress Isis Valverde.

Antonella was one of the names that grew the most in the preference of moms and dads. Part of the popularity is due to the charisma of Antonella Roccuzzo, wife of Argentine footballer Lionel Messi. are also successful Isabella (7th place), Fiorella🇧🇷 ariela🇧🇷 Micaela🇧🇷 Anabela and Donatella🇧🇷

The name Enrico It rose 18 spots on BabyCenter’s most recent list and subject matter analysts suggest its popularity has grown because of the son of Karina Bacchi, an Instagram star.

Anthony (also spelled as Antony) is the 31st male name on the most loved list. The success of the country duo Antony and Gabriel (8th in preference) could be a thermometer for that popularity. Or was it the duo that jumped on the bandwagon when choosing their stage names, as Antony is actually called Édico, and Gabriel was baptized as Jhony.

Noah seems like a modern name, inspired by the fame of cool actors like Noah Centineo, star of Netflix productions. In Brazil, one of those who launched the fashion was actress Danielle Winits, naming her eldest son Noah (pictured below), the result of her marriage to actor and presenter Cássio Reis.

In fact, Noah is nothing more than the English name of Noah, famous for centuries for having saved animals from a great flood. Bible-inspired names aren’t a new trend, and BabyCenter’s ranking proves it. David (5th place), Matheus (11th), Lucas (12th) and Isaac (23rd) are still highly rated.

Names inspired by Greek mythology are also popular with modern moms. proof of this is Helena, ranked first on the list among girls. According to Greek legend, Helen is the daughter of Zeus, the father of the gods. HectorPrince of Troy, is also powerful: his name appears 3rd among boys.

If there was any television influence in the parents’ choice of the name Helena, it probably has to do with the long series of characters so named in several soap operas written by Manuel Carlos.
