Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express rescues family in Scotland

This story seems like magic, but it really happened! Six members of the Cluett family went to a remote area of Scotland when a storm washed away the canoe they were traveling in.

“The river was overflowing. The entire area was underwater. The rocks I had tied the boat to had come loose and it was gone,” Jon told the BBC. Luckily, it was possible to contact the police and an officer assured them that they would receive help from the next train that passed through the area.

So Jon, Helen and the couple’s four children – aged six, eight, ten and 12 – were rescued by the The Jacobite, the steam train that became the Hogwarts Express in the “Harry Potter” saga.

“I’m a little sad because I lost my boat. But when the kids saw the steam train arrive, all the sadness left their little faces and was replaced by excitement and fun, just the real joy of having an adventure.”

Currently, the train is used for excursions on the West Midland Railway Line, which runs across the Glenfinnan Viaduct. This route also appears in the little witch movies.
