In mid-January, the Paraíba Yago Oliveira posted an outburst on Facebook, denouncing several members of his family. He preferred not to reveal names, but cited heavy cases of rape, pedophilia, racism, and even a possible homicide. 🇧🇷But according to all those I mentioned earlier, the family’s shame is me, for the simple fact that I’m gay”, he concludes.
The text was posted in public mode and it was clear that the allegations would cause the boy a lot of headaches, but no one could imagine the tragedy that was to come. On March 14, Yago committed suicide.
Today, the post has become a kind of memorial and already has more than 140,000 reactions and almost 45,000 shares.
Another terribly sad outcome that exposes the reasons why we still need to talk (and a lot!) about LGBTphobia in Brazil.
