Vivian Fabulous

Vivian from Fabulous had brown hair, and managed to make the look super lit by making the strands lighter. Among her secrets to always having stunning hair is a shampoo made especially for blondes, which adds shine and preserves the color well.

How to go blonde step by step

The hairdresser Pablo Gimenez explained one by one the measures that must be taken to have blonde and healthy hair. Follow:

Step 1: Assess the condition of the hair

“The first step for anyone who wants to go blonde is to know if the structure of the hair shaft supports such a transformation and to see the history of chemicals that have already been done. If the hair is artificially colored it is always more difficult to obtain a high level of lightening. This also applies to hair with progressives, as the hair is left with a film that acts as a barrier to the action of the bleach. In these specific cases, we have to be very careful not to go beyond the healthy level of lightening so as not to compromise the vitality of the hair”.

Step 2: Starting small

Instead of going into the blonde all at once, the ideal is to gradually make lighter locks. “I like to start with lots of locks interspersed with lightening the ends because it gives the look a natural look, after all, all hair is lighter at the ends than at the roots. It’s hard to get an overall blonde the first time around. Thinking about the health of the hair, it is better to make more than one visit to the salon to increase the level of lightening gradually, always alternating with good nutrition and reconstruction treatments, for lipid and protein replacement that help to control the resistance of the hair, and hydration to water replacement that helps in the manageability and shine of the hair”.

Step 3: Take it easy and don’t try to force the process

“Usually when we lighten dark hair, what happens is a drag of lightening background, that is, we have a lot of residual pigment natural from the tone of your hair. That’s why it’s important not to force the discoloration too much and use a correct toner to neutralize the height of tone that we can reach”.

Step 4: Getting to tone with the right products

You can get the blonde shade you want with toners or toners. Understand the difference: “With the use of toner in the salon, the effect is longer lasting. Some specific brands also provide hydration, which gives extreme shine and softness. When we use toner, the pigment is able to fill the empty spaces in the hair cortex that were filled by the old color, natural or artificial.

There are toning products that help keep the blonde tone neutralized. But when we use only toners, the pigments are very superficial between the hair cuticles, and therefore have little durability”, explained Pablo.

5th step: light or dark root?

This choice mainly depends on your taste and the time you will have to touch up the roots. Light roots need to be touched up much faster than dark ones. “Now talking about the blonde tone, as a general rule, in warm skins, cool blonde tones are good, and in cold skins, golden, almond and beige tones are good”, says the hairstylist.

Step 6: Daily care

See Pablo Gimenez’s tips to keep blonde hair beautiful and healthy:

“All hair needs treatments, and bleached hair even more because its structure is damaged due to chemicals.

So my recommendation is always to do a reconstruction in the salon once every twenty days or once a month, and basically have 5 products at home:

  • shampoo, special for the scalp;
  • specific conditioner for the hair strand;
  • mask for treatment – use once a week for nutrient replacement;
  • finisher for thermal protection and to balance;
  • serum to give shine, repair split ends, enhance the treatment and also enhance the shine”.
