To highlight the look, nothing better than striking eyelashes and, for that, many women have bet on eyelash extensions. However, there is another procedure that helps to curl and make your lashes stand out, called eyelash perming.
Carina Arruda, CEO of MyLash, says that the eyelash perm is a procedure to accentuate the natural curvature of the eyelashes, providing expressiveness and luminosity to the look. “It is recommended for those who have straight and long eyelashes, but it is also possible to create curves for shorter eyelashes”, points out the CEO. For more details on this procedure, see the next topics.
Step by step: eyelash perm
To understand how eyelash perming works, Carina listed the procedure step by step. See below and understand how the perm is made:
- Clean the eyes with saline solution;
- Apply the glue on the bigudinho and support it on the eyelid close to the root of the eyelashes;
- Lift the eyelashes so that they are stuck to the little whisker with the help of a spatula;
- Apply the perm product all over the eyelash and leave it on for 15 minutes;
- Remove it with saline;
- Apply the neutralizer and wait 10 minutes;
- Remove the neutralizer using saline again;
- Apply conditioner and wait 2 minutes. After the break, remove it;
- Apply the remover oil to remove any glue residue from the eyelid;
- Wash eyes completely with saline solution;
- Finally, dry your lashes.
There are several steps to have curved and defined lashes. The whole process takes, on average, 40 minutes and must always be done by qualified people with experience in eyelash perming.
eyelash perm x eyelash extension
Both stretching and perming are procedures to make your lashes more powerful and expressive. However, each one keeps its specifics that were mentioned by the CEO of MyLash.
- Eyelash permanent: the main difference is the non-use of synthetic eyelashes. “A gel is used to make the natural lashes more curved and organized”, explains Carina. The permanent also has greater durability, and can leave your lashes curled for up to 30 days. It is also possible to make use of eyelash mask, makeup remover and scratching the eyes without any damage to the procedure.
- Eyelash Extensions: Synthetic threads are glued to the eyelash extensions for a doll eyelash effect. “The extension lasts for 15 to 20 days, the use of a mask is not recommended – since there is no need – and the procedure lasts around 2 hours to be done”, adds Carina.
Although both procedures result in striking eyelashes, each has its own specifics. To know the best way to leave your lashes the way you dream, just consult a specialist who will evaluate and provide you with the options.
Permanent eyelashes: how long does it last?
The eyelash perm has, on average, the durability of 30 to 45 days, without the need for maintenance during this period. When your eyelashes are no longer curled, the procedure must be done again.
The time to do the perm is relatively fast, taking up to 45 minutes to be done and the price of the procedure is R$ 140, on average.

Dangers of eyelash perming
- It cannot be done by pregnant and lactating women.
- Those who have very damaged eyelashes should avoid the procedure.
- The product can cause allergies, so an allergy test should be done before performing the perm.
- Some product components may cause eye irritation.
The eyelash perm has few dangers, as long as it is done with a specialized professional. It is always important to perform the allergy test before doing the procedure. In addition, the perm does not cause any damage to the eyelashes of the person who performs it.
The result of the perm is curved lashes, more defined and expressive. Always look for a specialist to perform the procedure. Remembering that the perm will not increase the volume of the lashes, since there is no placement of synthetic lashes.
