Everything you need to know about “Setting a Style” for your wedding!

Planning a wedding is like creating a new brand. You have to be like a Creative Director, who chooses from the colors of the brand, which processes it will go through, which colors it will have and which audience it will engage.

In the brand world, we’re always trying to make sure there’s a certain level of visual cohesion at every touchpoint – or a visual strategy, if you will.

Today I will guide you through these same principles on how to apply them and define a unique and unforgettable style for your wedding!

1- It all starts with inspiration

Don’t worry – I won’t ban you from using Pinterest. In fact, consider this post as your certificate to be a beast on this social network that many brides LOVE!

Create a new folder and start putting everything you love about your wedding in mind, keeping in mind your personal style and the story you and your fiancé want to tell during the big day.

This could show up in a color palette you saw and liked, a feeling an image sparked, or a specific style detail you’d like to put into your wedding. One thing to keep in mind while you’re going through this step is that you don’t have to limit yourself to just pinning wedding-related content.

Inspiration can come in many forms, so think about pulling typography samples from a magazine that mimics the modern vibe, color palette inspiration from an interior decor image, and texture references, for example.

Once I feel like I’ve pinned a decent number of images that represent a wide range of content, I like to go back in the frame, reevaluating the pins and making notes on each photo. We want to eliminate any images that don’t feel 100% correct, so ask yourself what each image represents for your wedding and why you were drawn to it.

For the images that remain, make notes in the caption of each photo, noting what you like about them and what they represent in relation to your marriage.

2- Determining your wedding themes + details

The next stage is one of my favorites, is when I really start printing my inspiration images, starting to look for themes and similarities in content. You probably already started to notice this at the stage where you started looking, but now it’s time to identify exactly what they are, giving each group a name and jotting down other details that are relevant and help bring the theme you prefer to your wedding. .

3- Gather the details

As these details begin to take shape, so too does the moment you start collecting color swatches (if you don’t have access to a Pantone book, a quick trip to your local paint store will help!) and any other small pieces that give you a sense of the details, colors, textures and finishes you want to include as part of the design for your day.

Other ideas are fabric brands like the lace I chose for my dress design, sequins or other embellishment you plan on incorporating, or even jewelry and accessories.

Keep everything in a folder along with a selection of your final inspiration images, and you’ll have an easy-to-reference collection of all the details as they start to come together, ensuring everything works together and brings vision to the theme. of the wedding you want.

Good luck in planning!
