Ducks have no reason to envy peacocks (we have photos to prove it)

Ducks differ from most birds in that they interact more with humans. But knowledge about their way of being and their nature is still quite limited, to the point that many people cannot mention more than two or three varieties of these animals.

O awesome.club prepared this post for you to learn more about these wonderful birds and, above all, to admire their beauty in all its glory.

1. Domestic duck (Anas platyrhynchos domesticus🇧🇷

Ducks do not belong to the same group of birds as geese and swans. There are almost 30 species, divided into six subfamilies. The most numerous and popular is the domestic white duck, belonging to the subfamily Anatinae🇧🇷 They have six eyelids, three in each eye. Another feature is that not all species of ducks can fly.

2. Mallard (anas platyrhynchos🇧🇷

The mallard’s ability to adapt to different environments has made it the most numerous species in the northern hemisphere.

3. Gray steam duck (tachyeres pteneres🇧🇷

The gray steamer duck is one of the few that cannot fly. In this way, it is possible to understand their face of “few friends”. Anyway, it has an advantage: it is recognized as the largest in the world, measuring 84 cm and weighing 6.2 kg.

4. The blue-winged duck (spatula discs🇧🇷

Although the blue-winged duck is a predominantly migratory species, the population of Texas (USA) is sedentary.

5. Oveira teal (mareca sibylatrix🇧🇷

6. Wood duck (aix sponsa🇧🇷

The wood duck, also known as the “wooden duck”, has a curious feature. The male displays beautiful and bright feathers, while the female has dull colored feathers.

7. Mandarin duck (Aix galericulata🇧🇷

The Mandarin duck has been considered by popular East Asian beliefs as a bringer of good luck and a good omen in marital love. In China, in the most important ceremonies, the newlyweds usually receive some of these ducks as a gift.

8. Crested Duck (Sarkidiornis melanotos🇧🇷

Although this species is called “crested duck”, in fact, only the male has this characteristic. The female lacks the membrane on her beak.

9. Red-billed Duck (netta rufina🇧🇷

In the case of the red-billed duck, when the female (which has darker colors) is incubating, the male changes plumage and, thus, for a month, is unable to fly.

10. Red-footed Teal (Amazonetta brasiliensis🇧🇷

The duck known as marreca-pé-vermelho is only found in South America — especially here in Brazil. When the couple flies, the female always goes first.

11. Harlequin duck (histrionicus histrionicus🇧🇷

The male harlequin duck uses its bright plumage both to attract females and to camouflage itself in the water.

12. Brown Teal (Anas georgica🇧🇷

The Brown Teal inhabits both regions located at sea level and at 4,600 meters of altitude.

13. Blue-billed Teal (Oxyura australis🇧🇷

The blue-billed teal needs to submerge to get its food. It is a characteristic bird of the Australian territory.

14. Freckled duck (Stictonetta naerosa🇧🇷

Let’s play: Donald Duck was clearly a domestic duck. If you had to create a character inspired by a species of this animal, which one mentioned in the post would you choose?
