Dog paints pictures with his tail (which are auctioned to help other animals in his shelter)

Animals never cease to amaze us and many have extraordinary abilities. One of them is Rico, better known as “Ricasso” after his paintings – a reference to the Spanish genius Pablo Picasso. He lives in the shelter Animal Welfare League of Alexandria, in the United States. Their extraordinary works are a success as they managed to raise around 4,000 dollars. Rico gained unexpected popularity because of the method used to paint. And the people at the shelter where he lives are hoping this will help him and someone with a good heart will adopt him.

O awesome.club researched more about this dog’s history, how he started in the art world, and wants to share with you the most interesting details.

Rico is 6 years old and stands out not only for the paintings, per se, but also for the way he paints.

THE Animal Welfare League of Alexandria (AWLA) is an animal welfare and protection organization operating in Virginia, United States. She organizes trainings, rescues, clinics and adoption fairs. However, in recent times, it has become known not only for these beautiful works, but for our character, Rico, who has proven to have great skills in painting, to the point that his works are offered at auction.

When they showed their paintings, many asked how they could buy them.

Rico surprised everyone after his first job. So, he started to be called “Ricasso”, as we already mentioned. But things did not stop there, as, at the exhibition of his collection of paintings, participants began to ask how they could acquire them.

“THE AWLA proudly presents the Artist in Residence. Ricasso”.

“Pinny in Technicolor. Inspired by his true muse, Pinny.”

Another event was held to give away the paintings and they all sold out in less than an hour.

Given the great demand for Rico’s works, the entity decided to hold another event in mid-November 2019, in which 20 of his paintings were sold in less than an hour. In total, $4,000 was raised and some paid up to $600 for just one painting.

The money will be used to improve the shelter’s facilities.

A buyer of one of the pieces mentioned that Rico conveys with his art everything he went through throughout his life as a dog. The organization made it clear that the money will be used to improve the facilities and conditions of the animals housed there.

But Rico has a desire greater than fame: to be adopted.

“Resident artist.

Heartbreaker.

Ricasso”.
