Dermopigmentation is a procedure that has been increasingly sought after by people who want to correct flaws or complement their eyebrows.

The technique, which reaches the dermis, is a little deeper than micropigmentation, which is only in the epidermis – the most superficial layer of the skin.

In addition, dermopigmentation can also be done in some specific areas according to the need of each one, such as lips, eyeliner, stretch marks, among others.

How long does dermopigmentation last?

The procedure time varies according to each case. It usually occurs within 1 hour and 30 minutes, but it can take a little longer or a little less. The result is immediate and there is a lightening of 30 to 70% after the first few days.

After the first session, the person must return within 30 days for completion. “We call it a review, it’s when we finish the procedure checking the adaptation and fixation of the skin to the pigment, among other details”, he explains.

Durability is usually long and, generally, the need for a new procedure only happens after a year. “Because it is not a definitive procedure, but permanent, it is necessary to return to perform it again”, he says.

Dermopigmentation vs micropigmentation: what’s the difference?

Before filling in the eyebrows, it is also important to know the differences between the most common techniques.

In micropigmentation, the professional explains that a device called a dermograph is used to draw each hair in the ideal shape, changing the needles to ensure the perfect color and thickness.

In dermopigmentation, although it is very similar, this drawing is done in a deeper way. “People refer to micro and dermo as if they were the same thing. But the difference is in the details. The deeper it is in the skin, consequently, the longer it will last. However, the result will not necessarily be better. Even because it is natural for the color to fade”, says the beautician.

Another technique for eyebrows is microblading, in which a device called Tebori is used, which is manual and very similar to a pen. Therefore, according to Raphaella, it ends up being more aggressive for the skin, as it reaches a deeper layer than that of micropigmentation.

Important tips when performing dermopigmentation

Beautician Raphaella Bahia explains that, before doing dermopigmentation, it is necessary to pay attention to some points, to avoid any type of problem:

Look for a specialized professional: “It’s always good to have references from the professional beforehand, not only on social networks, but to see someone who has already done it”, explains the specialist.

Choose the color well: “The choice of color and technique must be decided by the professional, after an analysis of the profile and understanding of the client’s desire”, says Raphaella.

Know the place: According to the beautician, it is important to take into account the place where you intend to perform the procedure, see it closely and pay attention mainly to hygiene issues.

Take care: After doing the procedure, it is necessary to use an ointment to help heal and fix it; this ointment is provided by professionals who perform dermopigmentation.

Avoid sun: It is also necessary to stay five days without sun, beach and physical exercises, in addition to not applying sunscreen on top and avoiding products that contain acid.

With all these care before and after the procedure, the chances of having a perfect result are greater.

Contraindications

There are some cases where dermopigmentation is contraindicated, such as for pregnant women and women who are still breastfeeding.

The specialist also explains that, in specific situations, it may be necessary to have a medical authorization before performing the procedure. “Despite being a safe and very superficial procedure, we always try to keep our clients safe”, says Raphaella.

And, in people with a history of allergies, tests are performed to prevent any allergic reaction.
