Coca-Cola Shows the Value of Family Dinner

At the Garcia house, dinner is the only meal that brings the whole family together. During the day, journalist Priscila, 40, doesn’t usually see her twin daughters Maria Luiza and Giulia, 17, who are at school. Only at night, when her father, advertiser Adriano Chrisostomo Garcia, 41, arrives from work, does the movement around the table begin.

Dinner is a pleasure shared by the four of them, so much so that, sometimes, Adriano is the one who goes to the kitchen to make some of his specialties. “We never need to impose anyone’s presence on these occasions. We like to be close”, says Priscila.

On June 12th, even Giulia’s boyfriend preferred dinner at the Garcias’ house to eating out. “We all cooked together and it was really good,” recalls her mother. At family gatherings, the agenda ranges from declarations of love and day-to-day issues at school to the political situation in the country.

From time to time, the discussion becomes more heated. “At the table, we are more open, sincere and relaxed. It’s easier to talk during meals. Conversations are always eye to eye,” she says.

Priscila and Adriano, who have been married for 21 years, know that this privilege is temporary, since the twins’ university life is approaching. Maria Luiza wants to be a lawyer; and Giulia, a doctor. The choice of sisters may even change the routine of the house, but never the joy of being together, even if dinner takes place with some delays or is less frequent than it is today.
