After a 30-year marriage, Judi Dench managed to find love again at the age of 76

Academy Award-winning actress Dame Judi Dench, 87, has been in the spotlight for 65 years and apparently doesn’t plan on retiring anytime soon. But despite his busy life and fruitful career, Dench has always managed to find time for love, both in his youth and at the age of 76.

Judi Dench’s first husband was the love of her life

Judi Dench and her late husband, Michael Williams, were married in 1971 and were together until his death in 2001. Speaking about their relationship, Dench believes they were lucky as the union came naturally and they never had to work hard for it.

Even after many years of her husband’s departure, the actress still gets emotional when talking about him: “Oh, how he used to make me laugh. He could practically make me laugh out loud. We had a lot of fun. We had a beautiful time together. There were never difficult moments. I was lucky enough to meet Mike.”

Dench suspects he will probably never get over the loss of Williams and when asked how long it took him to feel okay without him, his response was poignant: “I don’t know. Maybe I never did it entirely.”

Nine years after losing her husband, Dench has found love again at the age of 76.

Dench hadn’t been prepared to find love again, nor had he expected to. But that changed when conservationist David Mills invited her in 2010 to open a squirrel enclosure at the wildlife center he runs.

Dench and Mills started dating and have been in a relationship for over a decade. Even after many years together, she still refers to him as “my champion” as she doesn’t like the word partner or boyfriend.

Speaking about their happy union, Dench believes that humor in a relationship is the most attractive thing of all and Mills makes her laugh. “I love to have a good laugh. Now I have a good friend and a lot of fun.”

Dench and Mills enjoy each other’s company but don’t plan on getting married

In an interview, when Dench was asked about the idea of marrying Mills, the actress reacted decisively: “No, no, no, no, no. Let’s all pull ourselves together, according to our age.”

They have also decided that they are not going to move in together as they consider it better to have their homes separate. But they live just 6 km away from each other and are always together, whether at her house or his.
