Abulia: the mental danger of summer
The term “abulia” is defined by the SAR as “passivity, disinterest, lack of will”: it is that lack of will that characterizes abulia from a psychopathological point of view.
Because if the will is the intention or mood of doing something, the lack of will at the psychological level can make us indifferent, liabilities and inert beings, flirting with depression already mercy of the will of others.
Next, we explain why abulia is especially dangerous in summer when various factors are aligned to test our will, our mood and our energy.

We already explain in your day why it costs more to work in summer and how this fact influences the appearance of abulia: heat, demotivation, school holidays, summer schedule, among other circumstances, contribute to the fact that we cannot be equally productive in summer.
But abulia can be a much more thorny problem than a considerable decrease in the productivity of our performance. In this sense, as defined by the University of Navarra clinic in its medical dictionary, abulia is a neuropsychiatric disorder characterized by the lack of will or inability to initiate and persist in activities aimed at objectives.
And of course, this inability is not only noticeable at work, but in any other daily activity. It is, therefore, a form of extreme apathya lack of general interest in participating in any activity, not only in which a certain effort (such as working) is required, but also in the activities that at some point were pleasant for the individual.
Therefore, abulia or lack of will is a common symptom of various disorders such as one’s own depression. It is very common that depressive people fail to cheer up, even to participate in “fun” activities.
But, in addition, abulia also accompanies other neurological and psychiatric diseases, such as schizophrenia, major depression, autistic spectrum disorders and various forms of dementia, including the disease of Alzheimer’s.
Summer abulia or how the will is ‘melted’ in summer
Fatigue
In any case, abulia is not always a symptom of a serious disorder, but only a stage through which the human being passes in some phases of his life … or in some periods of the year, such as summer.
And it is that this time of the year is, as we saw, a field paid for the lack of will and apathy for the changes that our body lives due to the meteorological changes, as well as the alterations of our daily rhythms, including the “Feared” vacation which are for not a few workers of abrupt changes of customs.
Taking into account that many live under the tyranny of a very rigorous schedule, with the arrival of summer we must adapt to another different rhythm which is not always well carried out by our body or by our mind that do not usually adapt very well to sudden changes.
Many “Sleep” cities in summer So that calm that contrasts with the dynamism of the rest of the year can alter the most restless individuals who need that high rate of activity to feel animated.
As well as we get the rush of others in a “dynamic” context we can also spread of the lack of activity in a context of “calm chicha”
What can be a rest more than necessary for the mind after months of frantic activity can also be a double -edged sword: we amodorous in our summer apathy, while the heat melts our will to action … and when September arrives it costs a world to return to the usual frantic rhythm: it is the feared Postvacational syndrome.
How to overcome summer abulia?

You will know that the trick for (almost) everything is in moderation. Fighting against summer abulia should not be another opportunity to turn life into an impossible and stressful schedule of activities. But we should not turn the summer into a indolent and lazy stage, if that way of life does not go with our character.
The first, therefore, know yourself and do not let yourself be dragged by the rhythm imposed by others, not even the sleeping cities. If the rest of the year you don’t want to run through the subway as if you are always late, it is likely that you don’t need to throw yourself into the Bartola in a hammock from July to September. You decide the rhythm you want to live summer … whenever heat allows.
Organize summer. A minimum of organization never hurts, even if it is not very romantic. If you live throughout the year attached to an agenda and when summer arrives you throw it in the trash, the shot can go out through the cylinder head and you may end up searching in the trash after a week of extreme apathy.
Adapt to schedules That summer entails, especially in relation to work, maintaining those activities that are fundamental to you (and your mind), such as physical exercise, for example, always adapted to heat, of course.
Take advantage of summer For those activities that always remain in the inkwell for the rest of the year, if you really have time for it. But do not turn summer into a Actual Agenda: Holidays should not be “productive” as they tell us that work should be. We do not take work jargon to all the orders of life. If yours is not to stop the activity, Don’t do it: It is the best way to overcome postvacational syndrome that affects those people whose life lives an abrupt change with the arrival of September. Do not confuse extreme apathy with “do nothing” or lazy. A lazy will have the will to do nothing, and not always doing nothing is synonymous with laziness, but on the contrary: sometimes, inactivity (physical) is the greatest mental activities. Remember: abulia is the inability to motivate yourself to do things, that is, Even if you want, you can’t. But if your will is to “do nothing”, go ahead, you are in your perfect right, of course.
